Oil Filter/What a hassle!
Mac
I agree. I would pay more if I thought the Super tech was not a good filter. Just because it is cheap does not mean it is not good (kind of like the Shumaker charger...it is cheap and good). If someone can tell me why the Super Tech is no good then I will change. I did some research before I started buying them, then of course I have had good luck with them so why change?

Oil Filter/What a hassle!
I compared the Mobil1 (physically, side by side) and after all the research and reading the different aforementioned sites I took the Mobil 1 back and bought the ST 7317 (Walmart). The Mobil 1 with tax, SC, $13.90, the ST, $2..87 + tax, Good Deal!

Oil Filter/What a hassle!
This filter, that filter...
My baby only gets the one made of it! I just changed oil last Sunday morning and That's the first time I've changed it since last March. WHAT!??? last March?? Yes... I use Amsoil! I change oil once a year... millage doesn't matter. Been a Amsoil user since 1973 and not one seconds problem! (I'm now over 100,900 miles) I do change the filter every 5000 miles and just top off. That reminds me, I used the last filter and need to go get a few more. The oil and filter are the life's blood of any engine and I refuse to skimp in any way on anything I own... .

Oil Filter/What a hassle!
I am not a R&D guy...... I just know WIX is a better filter than most others.
The only name I won't use if i can't get WIX is fram. I suffered 2 of these turn inside out in the can on my turbo volvo. I was a tad low on dough, and grabbed 2 at the same time. The first one died in less than 10 minutes, and read 0 psi on the gauge. I installed the other and got the same thing. With a big pipe cutter I opened these for no hack saw filings at all and saw the filter was mushed in the exits of both cans.... That sort of thing will kill any engine. Turbos really won't last a bit if they get run oil dry. I am not saying the filters you guys save a buck on are no good, but that I just believe WIX is the best. This 06 is my newest bike ever. I never had a brand new bike or car in my life. This bike has to last as long as i can ride as I will never get a newer bike. Chances are th Nomads and this site will be history while I still ride the old 06 Nomad into the ground. Or for someother reason I have to stop riding.... Like getting to weak and old.

Oil Filter/What a hassle!
I've used the Gadget list for at least 10 different filters and never found one that did not work. I don't expect to find one that doesn't. As you have found out, the folks at the auto parts stores only refer to their books, they will usually not recommend anything that deviates from that. Just pick a filter from the list, get it from the shelf, go ride. There is a site that cut up numerous filters for comparison but the gadget list is accurate for cross reference. Try this link if you just need to have gobs of data! Have fun picking one out.......

Oil Filter/What a hassle!
Is there any downside to running the Rotella T6 5W-40W. 5W doesn't really appeal to me.

It gets that cold the bike stays in the garage. Anything below 35 and I stay home I wish they had a 15-50

Read the link above that Poppy posted. It explains that the 5W is actually better for us than the 10W.
Mac I find it very difficult around here to find a Wix filter. I do use the Bosch 3300 and the Purolator PL14612. I feel that both are good filters and both are made by Champion. Or at least they are made by Champion the last I read.
