Grant and his wife used the long pants and long sleeves and liked them better then the short sleeve one. I wear the short sleeve shirt and short pants and have 4 sets. I think I will go and pick up a long sleeve and try it out on this trip. You can pick them up on sale for around $10.00 each.

If I could find them locally, I would give them a go. But I hit the road on Sat.

But I do note they keep you "cool" by using your sweat meaning you are giving up fluids. My vest and neck tie use water and have served me well so far. I also wear a long sleeve white shirt.

I have been using the heatgear base layer by under armour for a few years now and it helps as does my cooling vest. And don't forget your heated gear for the beartooh hwy.

After many trips to and from Hemet in socal, I have to ride through the desert. I have found that for me to keep hydrated I need to drink while I ride. If I wait to drink at stops then it is too late and I will get dehydrated. (I noticed this long before I tried the heat-out) I carry a small Ice chest and put ice in my water so it will stay cold until the next stop when I refill.

Bill I know the neck ties work, I used them for hiking. I am sure the vest works also and that is why I bought one. Just haven't had the need to use them. I have carried the vest for the last 2 long trips across the desert and not needed it. It will now stay home.

They work for me.

I just got back form Cycle Gear. I got a long sleeve top and a pair of long johns.

I will try out the set on my first day out. I have about 300 miles of desert to cross to my first stop in Elko Nv..

The forecast is for 100 deg... Not bad at all!

Cliff - Like you, I have a cup (16 oz) that I keep ice water in. I sip on it from stop to stop and when its goes empty I know is time to stop, get gas and refresh.

I'm going to Cycle gear by my house to see if I can pick up a long sleeve shirt. I just mounted a cup holder on my handlebars that holds a 32 ounce Gatorade bottle and some water in my saddlebags. Will stop frequently to make sure it's filled with ice and water.

Brad - if they have a 2xl long sleeve and if you can find room for it in the scooter you ride, I will buy it at Red Lodge.

The counting is over for me. I am enjoying JD and will soon hit the hay.

One last modification I made = I normally ride with my crash bar champs on. But, wanting to maximize the air flow on my bod tomorrow, I took them off.

I don't have a smart phone but I will post pics and trip info when I get in for the night.

My wife tells me I am acing like a 7 year kid the night before Christmas

See ya at Red Lodge.

I picked up one for me and one for Marie and a head cap today. We'll see if Cliff knows what he's talking about!
