Thanks OP...I'm kinda mixed on it. It seems to suit the bike, but I worry about the associations and assumptions that it might bring.

I think he means that a majority of people associate JD to HD.

Close OP,

It's really more of the "Alcohol and bikes" association. I haven't been stopped, but if I were, would it make the police more likely to suspect that I've been out tearing it up because of the words on the air cleaner. Also a similar type assumption when people see the bike. I definitely qualify into the "clean cut" crowd, but sometimes I worry that if they see something that basically advertises a brand of alcohol that is somewhat synonymous with rebels and "bikers" (no offense meant) and immediately think the worst.

Most of my freinds say no, but I have had 2 other bikers ask me if I've been given any flack for the cover. Go figure

tkd-
If you like it, keep it. If you worried about what everyone thinks of things, you'd drive yourself insane. Let people think what they want. If you like it, enjoy it!

I agree. What a person rides is one of the most personal things there is. Do what you want with it. You should never have to explain yourself. People will always have negative opinions of bikers as long as there are still assholes on motorcycles. I do see your point about the cops though.

I agree; if you like it forget about it. I do understand the potential of projecting an image; however a JD emblem is mild compared to what the average officer sees in a day.

I wouldn't give it a second thought.

Welcome bergrog!

As Ponch said; let us know more when you get a chance; and about anything going on in your area of the country. I just may need an excuse to ride there sometime!

I don't know Greg, judging by your photos I think we need to ride the UP. I drove through there once on my way to Saginaw to avoid Chitown. I don't remember it being that scenic.
Guess I should have driven it during the day. HA HA
