Don't really care for molasses. Everything else sounds good.

Other recipes exist, using water instead of coffee, or adding coffee with grease still present in the pan. When the coffee is added to the grease in this manner, a homogeneous mixture may result that lacks the "red eye" appearance.
Nope..plenty of salt in the country ham.......you do not thicken red-eye gravy...it stays thin............

I just saw this post, it really makes me laugh, I worked in an area in NYC called Harlem, everyone ate grits there, I had them for breakfast almost every day. I never thought much about it, well I retired to SC and when I eat breakfast out people always say to me ,"Hey your not from around here", guess its my Bronx accent, anyway they are always surprised that I eat grits , Who woulda thought? I had southern roots anyway, I was born in the south bronx.

My uncles lived in Levittown, and when I was in the twenties we would rent a house in the Hamptons for the summer, (la ti da), of course it was with about 10 other guys so the place was a mad house all summer on the weekends, but it was great fun!

Yeah, Levittown was up the road, only 4-5 miles away. I spent a lot of time there. I used to date someone from Levittown...But that was almost 30 years ago. The Hamptons were nuts in the summer.
