After all the years HD has been fighting the fed's I knew they would have to change,, Seen the water cooled design's for years,, They started playing with water cooled back in the 70's I believe, Code name was NOVA if memory serve's me right.. Good to see HD is catching up with the time's sad to see the old design starting to fall away!

Beside the lower's They also looked at installing the radiator somewhere behind the motor. I cannt find the drawing I had but will keep looking

It will be interesting to see if this affects the resale value of the older Harleys. One of the biggest reasons I got the VV (water cooled) over a used Harley. Heck my 1995 lawnmower is liquid cooled!

The re-sale value of the older traditional bikes will probably go up now as they will become "classics". Only in the HD world does chit like that happen....!

I will admit I have not followed HD specs very close but I did not realize they are all chain drive? Really? I thought they had moved to belts? CORRECTION: Thanks for the clarification Gibby I guess they are belt afterall.

In looking at the specs on the HD site it looks like only 3 Models are water cooled (ooops I mean TWIN Performance Cooled ) the Ultra Limited, The Tri Glide Ultra, the CVO Limited ($38,000....yikes!)

http://www.harley-davidson.com/en_US...are-bikes.html

That should leave enough of the line up air cooled for the hard core that can't move out of the past.

I'll stop by my local HD dealer and see if any have made there way north yet. I can just imagine what the price will be here, the regular Ultra Classic is 28k here.

Final drive on all Harley Davidsons is belt drive. Primary is chain.

For those enjoying yourself poking fun at the term "Twin-Cooled", might want to consider it is not a truly "full-water-cooled" system, thus stating it is water-cooled by HD would not be a true statement.

The engine is not water-jacketed as a water-cooled engine would be. It is a small system only cooling the heads, along with an improved oil-cooler.

So there

Water cooling just the heads I think is a waste of time. It didn't work well for the overheating Nomads that still needed a processor to run cooler.

I don’t know Brad, sounds like an engineering marvel to me, good old American iron know-how setting the bar a just little higher than Victory can jump!

Now that Harley has folded their old ways and in Harley fasion has confessed to having an antiquated machine by going to "precision water cooling heads" soon all old Harley engines will evaporate in history due to the over populated visa bikers of today that become instant bad ass bikers due to their visa cards. Within a few years Harley will on their own terms become fully water cooled and within their promotional ranks they will devour yesterday as being un cool (no pun here). Within five years most Harleys still on the roads will be dripping in coolant and the new crowd of bikers will kill the old regime. I can see it now...separation within the ranks..this could lead to mayham in the world of Harley.
The old Nomad ( limited due to Kawasaki's traditional 9 yr runs) will soon rise to prominence and will be much sought after prizes. Even if they have a mere 150k miles on them.
Apon further thought processing, it seems to me that the Nomad no longer looks like a Japanese Harley, but with the new precision water cooled Harleys...hmmm....they are starting to look like Japanese NOMADS.

They always were Japanese Nomads. Did 5:00 come early in Alberta today?

I am curious why and how people develop so much hatred towards a M/C brand.
