Yup, and then it sits in a garage except for 1 week in the summer oh and the odd trip to the coffee shop to "visit" with all his 'riding buddies" ::)
More of a status symbol for many of those purchased. In a few years they will be for sale for likely HALF of what they were purchased for
Strange how many of those high end bikes are still sold? in this economy especially?
Enough that they keep making them.

Yes, and with dealers closing there doors (heard of 2 in Maryland?) some area's are harder hit then others?

What really surprises me too is the price they seem to be still getting for them, infact the higher priced ones are selling much faster then the mid range models (maybe just have more of them??)
But if it's a status symbol (like the Hummers) why would you want the entry level or mid priced model?
But as long as someone's buying it will help the economy somewhat!!
Lots of deals on used ones out there if you look however......

While there is truth to that, once you have some of it, it's hard to go back. The other thing is that stuff that comes with a bike is covered under warranty, stuff you add yourself isn't and could void it.

It all comes down to what you want to do with the bike too. All I can say is try a bike with the technology and see if you like it.

My only problem with SOME new technology is if it is fully tested prior to putting on the vehicle in question.

Case in point.
Yamaha Virago, way back 1981? had a digital dash. It was COOL and so a few bought one. Years later, when they went bad (and many did) XV920 I think was the model. To get the bike to RUN if you didn't have a replacement (many 1000's) and none to be found used, you had to try and REWIRE the bike entirely!!! I remember a couple of bike shops having this problem with an owners bike sitting for years.
So while I think some of these things are GREAT, if not proven or used on multiple models, could be a problem. I know only for the 2nd owner normally years later, but could be if not many of those parts are readily available even if under warranty. I think some of these new features are nice, but it wouldn't make me buy that one over another depending on of course other factors.

Yeah, but it's BMW. I can get parts for Airheads for gods sake. It isn't cheap though, but there is a lot of support out there. If you pitch to the lowest common denominator, you probably will have fewer issues, but your capabilities will be hobbled as well. All I can say is find the balance that makes sense.

It doesn't look like it. The Nomad market took a hit like anything else.

That's higher than here. How does that compare to a goldwing? You guys must pay a lot in taxes. According to my currency converter, that number is thousands higher than the american price with the conversion. In fact the canadian dollar is worth more. $1cn=$1.02us

Ouch. Is it worth it or even possible to buy in the states? Also, does it matter what province you live in as far as taxes?

In Ontario, they use to have it broken down to GST (goods and Services TAX) and PST (Provincial Sales TAX) Now they changed it to HST (Harmonized Sales TAX)
GST was 7%
PST was 8%
then they dropped it and now combined HST is 13%
When they changed it, some items (food) got added that were not taxed before.
We are just about to the level of Taxicusists....er Massachusetts
There are 3? BC, Ontario and?? that have HST setup now.
Each province takes there share (that use to be the PST).
Now they recently introduced legislation HERE (ON) that if you have a vehicle (car mostly) 20 years and older, you must get an appraisal before it is transfer of ownership, so they can tax you accordingly..NICE :(" title="" border="0"/>
Most prior to that they use there own rating system of it's VALUE to get there share from you when you transfer title....
Yeah it's F'd up here!!!! Another reason they don't want GUNS around...It would be OPEN SEASON on Politicians and Legislatures
