It's getting closer - Rally Info Update

TC,

I'll ride all the way in the back of the group with you, we'll go slow. You won't even be nervous. I say the Nomad is like a "Lazy-boy" chair, can't go very fast on corners anyway. I remember the first time I leaned much into a sharp corner on the Nomad and scrapped that hard plate on the bottom of the foot boards, scared the hell out of me!

The fun thing about riding the Dragon, is just because it's such a cool road, you'll never ride anything else like it. 300 and some turns in what, 11 miles?

And like Nomadtom69 say's, during the week it's probably not going to be very much traffic anyway, and the group will be doing it probably in the early morning, so even less traffic also.

TC if you don't feel comfortable on the dragon the don't ride it there are a lot of other great rides in the area and you wouldn't be the only one because I don't plan on riding it.

I live in British Columbia and as many of you know or have heard, it's pretty "hilly" around here. I have done my fair share of twisty"s both at home and away. I have been challanged a time or two for sure.
I was just curious as to the intensity of the Dragon. I don't question my riding as much as I question other peoples riding and driving, along with what may be poor choices by others. If I'm riding from BC to Maggie Valley you can bet your sweet potatoes I'll be riding that tail.

TC, If your worried about being rear ended, I'll follow you if it will make you feel safer. Seriously I have every intention of taking it slow on the dragon. We have some pretty nice twisties of our own north of Montreal and I have driven one particular road ( Sly probably knows it, rte 327) most of my life. Funny thing is I drive it more conservatively now on a bike than I ever have in the past and I enjoy it more.
Call it a cross between a sense of mortality, and no reason to prove anything to myself.

Check out you tube... there are plenty of videos (ya some are nuts) but my brother did it last year, he's much more experienced than me and he took his time most of the way... and what I have seen there are plenty of cops too, so if you're dumb, you'll get stopped... Maybe Tom and the guys can give thier 2 cents...

If the cops find out that there will be 100 nomads on the dragon you can bet your sweet a$$ that they will have the radar out and some of them on bikes. Not to counting the unmarked ones Speed limit and no problems if it says SLOW it means Slow There is one video of 2 HD passing a motorhome(doing the speedlimit) and they missed the next curve and over the hill they go . One of the things on my "bucket list" is to ride the Dragon. I have watched many of the videos and have a copy of Jerry "Motorman" Palladino's video done on the Dragon. All of this to prepare myself. Last summer some folks I regularily ride with made the trip and as one said it was fun but you have to take your time.

My friends said they went to "tame the dragon", I just want to tickle it a bit... they also said it was much better during the week than the weekend.

I have a CD of Yellow Wolf doing the Dragon on his yellow Gold Wing - for a while he is following two crotch rockets that clearly don't want to let him pass.

He finally gets buy them and when he takes off I bet those guys got off their bikes to see what was wrong. Apparently he road the Gap over 1,000 times and has done a 24 hour endurance ride as well.

Yellow Wolf does some video for folks that want to have a show for home.

I'm thinking a little fun and put magnesium studs under my floor boards just for any crotch rockets come up behind. My wife won't mind she's heard the boards scrape before!

Hey John !! don't forget that "they" are looking for door prizes for the rally. Can I suggest a set of your lowers for the offering ???
Hell,.. bring a trunk/trailer full. I bet you'd sell a bunch. ;)

I thought I heard BD whine a while back about the National being too far, so he's not coming, guess he won't be riding the Dragon either. ::) ::)
