No ill effects or pain whatsoever... Just sayin'.

My fusion either. My left arm was going away. I wonder if I ignored it, would it have gotten better?

I've known people who have ignored problems to get them to go away. Maybe it works.

Just my opinion but I think you guys interpreted Mike wrong on the psychosomatic comment.
I believe he was talkin about my neck and shoulder pain.

Mitch, sorry to hear your still having a problem with the tendons in the arm.
I thought you were getting better quickly. Did you recover faster than expected at first then hit a plateau of sorts?

Jim, did the fusion completely fix the arm?

It's not 100%, but if I had to put a number on it, it would be 75-80% for sure. The funny thing is now I have neck pain, which I didn't have before, but that is par for the course in wearing a neck brace for two months.

I had bone spurs, stenosis and bad disks which were cutting off the brachial plexus. My arm was shrinking and numb most of the time. The doc said it would become permanent if I chose to do nothing, which means I would have had to quit riding at some point. Definitely not psychosomatic.

Is the 75-80% as good as it will get or do they see it improving as time goes on?

Tim, several of us have a variety of problems due to "getting older".

The question for you seems to be: "Do your 'pains' come only while doing certain functions, like riding your Nomad".

Ponch and I have conversed over our problems, and both are fairly substantial conditions with regard to affecting our functions. Ponch has had surgery. I am only having minor surgery by comparison.

However, the common denominator is that our pain was persistent; although aggravated more by certain activities -- with mine being riding a motorcycle.

My Ultra, with a "tighter cockpit", so to speak, provided some relief from what I felt on the Nomad -- however I am only 5' 6". But still, reaching to far forward can definitely cause neck and shoulder pain; despite the fact you are a lot taller and can make the reach the Nomad requires.

All-in-all... I am saying, if your pain in only experienced when riding, then likely your "condition" is minor and only aggravated by the physical exertion required to ride your bike -- which now suggests you need to do modifications to your Nomad to help reduce your "reach" on the bike. (i.e., risers, ape-hanger bars, a different seat, and etc)

Also... you need to do some exercises to get your body back into condition. I am not talking joining "Cross-Fit" training, but minor stretches and exercises to help condition your body to withstand the strain and strength required to enjoy riding again.

That's all I'll say about that. I'll let Mike do the phyco-analysis part...

I hate to say it TC, but it's all in your head. Doesn't matter if you're 57 or 67. Just sayin'.

Greg, the only time I get the pain in the neck and shoulder is while riding.
I just ordered a new set of Santee bars and am going to try that.

TC just maybe it is riding in general and not just riding a particular brand of bike. There are a lot of exercises that will strengthen the neck muscles and this may in turn help support your head and reduce the aches.
