Talimena Rally who's coming

Thanks everybody and I will send Richard a link to this page so he can read ya'lls kind remarks.

Richard's friend was a co-worker too. The 27 year old friend suddenly and surprisingly past away while on a business trip in Europe.

I feel certain Richard will catch us at another rally.

Bill, My daughter just called me a few minutes ago to tell me than a guy my age I went to school with dropped dead last night at his brother's home while watching the LSU/WV football game. He was always in good health. They will perform an autopsy to see what happened. Undoubtedly it was his heart. David was 56.

Mitch: These tragic events are a scary reminder for us to be prepared. That is to be right with God, family, and friends. And to enjoy each day to the fullest, like we intend to do at Nightmare's Rally.

Talimena Rally who's coming

Thanks everyone for the kind words regarding the passing of my close friend, Scott. It is a terrible loss considering his passion for life, friends, and his work. I feel I should stay back to help honor him and his family at his memorial services this week. Fortunately, Scott went out on top...he was in Ireland this past weekend for business meetings with Analog Devices. They got to stay the weekend in an old castle and play golf on one of the historic courses there. One of my colleagues told me after a grueling round of golf in the driving rain and wind, Scott still had a smile on his face and told him that everything in his life was perfect. He was so happy. The next evening he passed away in his sleep.

Scott Savage (1982-2010)

I was definitely looking forward to seeing everyone again and introducing Victor to my new Hyabusa mini bike ;)

I hope you all have a great time and ride safe. Hope to see you all again soon.

Take care,

Richard

Rich, So sorry to hear of the loss of your friend. I can understand how you feel. I lost 2 classmates in my HS junior year. One struck by lightning and the other in an auto crash just two weeks apart. Three years later, I lost one of my best friends who I attended school with from 1st to graduation. He was playing a pickup game of basketball when he collapsed and died on the court just 2 years after we graduated HS. The autopsy showed he had a heart defect from birth. He was an all district and all state 4 sport athlete in the picture of health. It was a heartbreaking loss that took a while for me to get over, in spite of our young age at the time. Again, while starting up our plant after midnight following Hurricane Rita, one of my co-workers left me in the control room after correcting process computer issues. We sat around and talked of the good and bad times we'd had together throughout the years. We laughed and had a great couple of hour together. It seemed like he didn't want to leave for some reason. I thought maybe he was having problems at home. It was shortly after 2 am when he finally left. I worked that night starting up and found out the next afternoon when I woke up that he had a massive heart attack at 4 am, not long after leaving the plant. His young son had drove him to the hospital because of chest pains. He collapsed in the parking lot and lived only being able to breathe on his own for a few months. He was an avid mountain bike rider who pedaled at least 80 - 100 miles every weekend. He also looked as healthy as a thoroughbred but had a heart defect. Your Dad is so right in saying that we have to be ready and prepared. We never know when that day will come. Take care and offer our condolences to Scott's family. It was a pleasure meeting you in ES and we'll see you at the next rally.

Mitch

Rich, very sorry for the loss of your friend.

Well my friends, it's happened again. I have a mandatory B.A.C.A. event on Saturday and not enough time off to be able to be there Thursday and Friday.

I think I said this last time, I'm really sorry guys.

Just a quick update and a question. I'm still coming and bringing a friend along. He rides a V-Star, I hope thats not an issue?

We can only get Friday off. So that means only attending the Friday and Saturday rides, and the associated events.

Mapquest says that its a 4 hour ride from here, which would put us there around 9:00-10:00pm or so if we leave thursday. Or, we could leave early friday morning and join in then. My gut tells me that we should leave on Thursday after work, but I'm hoping for some input from others with a bit more experience on this.

I am packed and will be on the road by 0730 hrs tomorrow. Weather looks great and I see no problem in rolling into Pittsburgh, KS by 1500 hrs. I hope to stop at Ft. Scott Nat. Military Park on the way down.

Looking froward to meet all of you.
