Dan...I'll get a pic of my install, but here's one from Gadgets site which is where I got the idea. I used a push button switch and a key fob remote that I opened up and soldered two wires on to the switch. I have it velcroed on my inner windshield below my bag so you don't see it.

I'm sure if "dinkals" would leave Lonnie alone, I'd already have a backrest. ;<)
01nomad, you should have gotten your backrest by now. And why did you call me dinkals silly? please email me at bf4cm28@yahoo.com if you still have not received it.

Ape hangers. Nothing has made the ride more enjoyable than the improved hand position. Next after that I would say the resistor I added to the air temp sensor. This has made it possible to ride the bike with regular unleaded without any pinging or spitting or exhaust popping.

For starters, a windshield bag.

Where do you put the garage door remote etc?

Best 30-60 bucks you can spend on your Nomad.

The biggest thing I can't live without? My wife riding behind me. Whether is riding in the Tennessee mountains, the Grand Canyon, or Yellowstone park, she is with me and NEVER complains!

I need to put mine back on, took it off putting risers on this winter and only ride rarely in the winter so I haven't' taken the time to put it on.

I got it off eBay for I think about $40

On my 99's and 05 and 06 I've always re-drilled the holes in the bag so that they would mount lower on the windshield. Just a personal preference.

With the Phat II risers, it was hard to do the clasp with them mounted lower, so I got some velcro and stopped by a shoe repair shop and gave them $5 to sew the velco on.

Now instead of the clasp, I just push the flap shut and let the velcro do its thing.

Just my thoughts on windshield bags. I'll get a pic if I put it on today.

When it comes to the driver's backrest...I would purchase one and install it if I was planning a long journey as a lone ranger rider. But, I'd also remove it with a passenger. My thought is that the driver's backrest somewhat serves the purpose of a "boundary" between a passenger and the driver during a ride. I like the occasional sqeeeeeeze or the ability to lean back into the 'pillows' when I feel the need.

Highway pegs are the most inexpensive must have accessory.

yeeow, you definitely named some places I'd love to ride before I ck. out. Wompus you sure must rack up some mi. and you sure sound like ya know how to pickum. I don't know if I could ride that far (Yellowstone) I'd probably trailer out then ride. For now I've been content with the Appalachians, maybe the Ozarks next yr. ::)
