My Mustang sat me back a little, and up a little on the Voyager (an inch or two?)... enough so that I installed risers to regain the nice easy reach I had before it.

Thumbs Up

Ok, A Mustang? A Russell?
Just ride a Goldwing & you will be able to ride all day long! :)

I had a Mustang on my Nomad & it was great seat.
Cheers

I had a Goldwing, it is a nice bike but even on that I had to have a Corbin to ride all day. Sucks being "big and tall" trying to fit on Japanese motorcycles but I sat on Victory and it was no better.

Manufacturers don't put a lot of effort into making a good seat.

For me it turned my stock 60 mile seat into a 120 miles seat. Still not where I needed it to be. For the money, there are better options, especially if the rider is large, which seems to be a determining factor. My advice is get a Russell.

I got a black sheepskin to fit the seat, this helped releave some of the pressure point & some "not all" of the numb but. But for not alot of cash, worked for me. I might take the seat apart & put in some gell.

Well I got a deal on a new Mustang seat with places for both backrests. The price was a "too good to pass up deal" so if it don't work out maybe I can ride with it and send the stock seat to Russell.

A gel seat is only good in the cooler weather. It breaks down in the hot weather.

I fail to understand why a motorcycle manufacturer cannot make a seat that would make 90% of its riders happy right out of the showroom.

I agree, or at least offer better options like the new Vulcan 900 with its "ergo" options. When I bought the Vaquero I was looking at a Voyager and that seat felt so much better, but I never actually rode it. I e-mailed Ultimate seats and they no longer offer a seat for the Vaquero at all, just the Nomad and the Voyager. To me it looks like the stock Voyager seat would fit the Vaquero but the lines would look a little goofy.

That's exactly what I ended up doing.

The Mustang was not popular with my passenger, so it's in the back of the garage somewhere now. The Russell suits us both very well.

I now have the Mustang seat and it's really not that bad. My wife likes it but she don't really ride with me much. I have a long ride this weekend and the Mustang will get a true test by me. I may end up with two seats that I can just swap back and forth.

My wife liked the Mustang better than stock, but I wouldn't call it an all day seat for me. I'd have to stop ever 125 miles or so with it, where as I could go 60 on the stock seat before I felt like I had to take a break. The problem is, at least for me, once the discomfort and pain start, even with stops it's cumulative. After 500 miles I've had enough. Some days, that's not good enough if a lot of territory has to be covered. That said, seats are individual specific. What works for one person won't work for another, unless they are identical twins and even then I would wonder.

I have the Mustang vintage seat with the adjustable driver backrest and it works great for long rides.....around town or local I use the stock seat. I had to buy an extra mounting bracket for the other seat to keep from having to switch it out every time I swap seats. The "stang" seat works well for my 215 lb. 5'10 frame for 300 mile days. The driver backrest was a worthwhile investment as well.
