When the oil is hot, idling my bike has 15 psi of oil pressure. The longer filter doesn't filter any better than a short filter, but with the longer filter, you do have a little more oil to circulate. Since Wally World stopped making/carrying the ST7317, I've been using the Bosch 3323. On a Nomad with stock exhaust, a longer than stock filter won't fit, so if you have the goat belly, you have to go with the short filters.

When I had my 08 Nomad I used the Mobil 1 long filter or the Bosch long filter with my stock exhaust no problem.

People like the stupid ass nut on the end. Someone gave me one for my beemer. I'll never use it.

On another not. with the stock exhaust, there's not a lot of room for the longer filter, so I used the short one, bosch to be exact in brand. On the 800 engines, the filter is in the front, so I used the long filter on that bike.

Same filters fit tge 800 and the 1700s. Used the SuperTech until I couldnt get them anymore, now using the Bosch 3323 on the 800 and Voyager with no issues. Did valve job and replaced cams on 800 at 97,000 miles, and the top end is the only part that showed wear, I believe this happened because of too low an idle. The cylinders were so good, the shop owner said he could clean them to like new and you could not tell the difference. Tributes this to clean oil. I changed it every 3,000 +/- 100 since the 1st 3,000 miles.

Bosch is my choice. They have a shortie and a long. Goats belly must be off to use long.
