Actually they are NOT LED s They are Halogen and really brighten up the road at nite and you can adjust them to your preference! Much better than the larger ones with regular bulbs, but like you said, to each thier own.....

The Grote's I used are 55 watt sealed beams and they are pretty bright although not as bright as those small halogens (I put a set of those on a friends Yamaha).

Nice work. That's a pretty clever install technique.

Thanks......it really didn't take too long to do. Just a matter of trial and error to get the "fit" right.

I'm resurrecting this post one more time for a "completion report".

One of the things I dislike about every forum I've ever looked at, is folks never telling what they finally did or what fixed the problem or if they just gave up. I like closure, yea, I'm a little OCD.

So in the spirit of not leaving anyone wondering, I did purchase the LED lights in TC's link and mounted them to the windshield like the ones pictured in the first post. I wired them up with a relay using the 10A accessory wire in the headlight bucket and used the running lights as the activator. I put a separate 5A fuse in the line so it will blow before the primary if something goes wrong. No worries about heat or excessive current draw with these lights.

They look good and work fine, just need to make final adjustments to the beams, too wet and cold this weekend for that. I hope to set them so they can stay on all the time without blinding oncoming traffic, otherwise, I will need to change my activation wire to the high beam.

Temperature is supposed to be mid 60's this Saturday, can you say "road trip"!

Ken

A complete report is not complete without a nice picture of the finished product for us to admire. Please.

My bike came with this Cobra light bar. I changed it up a bit by relocating the turn signals and running the wire through the bar to clean things up and make cleaning easier.

RVTraveling.

Great job! I was wondering if you can take a lights off, (Dark) head on picture from the front with the lights AND the headlight on please. I want to get an idea of how the set up will look coming toward me at night. The plastic engine guard chaps are a nice touch. Did you make them or buy them? I am interested in a pair. Also the garage is VERY clean and organized. Whats up with that? lol

Ra

Since the weather is going to be nice here this weekend, I will be getting the bike out to ride and adjust the new spots so I'll get a picture then.

As for the engine guard chaps (can we call them chaps if they are not leather?), I made them as well as the fork lowers and air dam out of some scrap 1/4 plexiglass I had laying around. Just made a cardboard template for a pattern. Got the P clamps at Home Depot. I like that they almost disappear and do the job very well.

Duffy

The arm rest I purchased online at motorcyclereararmrest.com. It's not really made for the wide sissy bar of the nomad, but I made it work. I created a mounting plate that raised the pad 1.5 inches and let me put the armrest a little more level with the bike.

In the near future I'll get some pictures of the mounting and put them in a thread of their own.

Now about that garage...did I mention I'm a little OCD?

Ken
