'02 Nomad Failing Emissions

Your bike should always fail the test without the cat.... at least in California it would fail.

I am not absolutely certain, but pretty sure that a "rich" mixture (or unburt fuel in the exhaust) will push the HydroCarbon (HC) number up in a emisions test. I think he is too lean meaning that he has left over oxygen after his fuel was used up. The oxy doesn't like to exist by itself so it grabs other elements like Hydrogen and Carbon to combine with. The Carbon Monoxide (not dioxide) reading that he failed on can be efected by adding fuel and then CO goes down and H2O rises. And a chemical or thermal intervention post combustion (goats blader is a thermal &chemcial intervention) will do much the same thing.

Get the hotter plugs out too. You don't want hotter plugs in any engine not burning a heck of a lot of oil. Whats hotter is the inner ceramic core of the plug, the spark is the same.

You are begging for ping hell! Get a fuel modual on that bike too, before ping eats the engine up.

The EPA is all about breaking the laws of nature and phisics.

I have stock pipes on my ride but my previous bike had Vance & Hines Longshots. I kept.the stock pipes in the shed just in case. I nearly had to swap back to stock one year because the garage gave me a hard time about the noise.
