NCR 2010 National Rally Mapping: Roscoe to MV

BnG... I had figured you, Rayski, and Stretch would all be there in Bloomington. If I didn't meniton Stretch, I apologize; but I hadn't forgot about him! ;)

You guys will have plenty of time that morning in Bloomington, since we won't be getting there any sooner than 11AM that day at best. It is 144 miles to Bloomington from Roscoe. That will take every bit of 3-hours to do that ride with a stretch-stop.

Columbus is another 212 miles from Bloomington; which will easily be a 5.5 hour ride with stretch-stops.

I need to try to figure out stops for us based on gas mileage distance -- just to make sure there are gas stations near where we need them to be.

What do you guys figure on miles between fill-ups?

100 miles... 120 miles? Let me know what the limit is on your Nomads if you would so we can be sure to stop plenty early for fuel.

Once in Oregon I ran out of gas at 208 miles, but I don't want to do that again. I rarely go farther than 150 miles without looking for a fillup.

The most miles I've ridden solo in a day was a little over 650 miles from Reno, NV to Kennewick, WA. I believe it took over 12 hours with lots of stops and sitting side-saddle sometimes.

I suggest we stop at least every hour for 15 min or so. If not, and you're riding two up, you are going to get some complaining in your ear. Anytime I've ridden with you, Greg, you always seem to stop just about right every time!

Hey Greg,
I usually stop every hour to hour and a half, fill up with gas, stretch the legs and make a liquid deposit. I find that frequent stops allow for riding many more miles in a day and not be all done in at the end of the day. I put 600-700 miles in almost every weekend, weather permitting.

GLW- When we rode to PDC last year we took I-74. There are plenty of fuel stops from Bloomington to Peoria, Ill once you get passed Peoria then they are not so frequent till you get close to Indy. I forget the miles but it is less than 2hrs. I am investigating a 2nd alternative route you may want to look at, I will forward info to you soon. Trying to make it easy for all & less complicated so as no one gets seperated.

Bluekaw... appreciate the info on I-74. Unfortunately we won't be going on I-74 between Bloomington and Peoria. I am fairly familiar with what is on the two routes we have to take to Indy (I-39 and I-74 East to Indy from Bloomington) and realize the choices are fewer for some reason -- which is why I was wanting to know approximate distances for everyone's comfort and fuel so I can time stops where there is fuel.

Any suggestions you have on avoiding construction on 474 would be appreciated. When looking at the map... it looks like there is only one entrance ramp to I-65 off the road we will be on. I'll have to watch that so everyone makes the ramp... otherwise we'll be split-up quickly. If that route is the best; we can make it work though. I'll just go over the details prior to that so everyone is paying atttention. :) ;)

Gibby... no problem. I usually stop every 1 to 1 1/2 hours any way. My back has to stretch that often or else my day gets short quickly

Usually my ass dictates when I stop. After that it's pee, gas and food, not necessarily in that order. :)

LOL! For me it is defintely the "back". I have to stretch or else the day gets real ugly. I usually can hold-off if needed on the other reasons.

It sounds like "Cal" had to cancel attending the National Rally in June.

Sorry to hear Cal isn't going to make. He is a great guy; and would have been a lot of fun to have had along on the trip.

That will make our group one person lighter than previously thought; however, we still have a nice little posse going down to MV. We still have eight bikes going. (5 Nomads and 3 other brands).
