Ya know them more we travel down the political correctness road "here" the more ya alls sound like Californians. Just remember that next time you snicker and slam my liberal state. California got into the "feely good shoes lets make everone happy" believe system and look where it got the state? For those of you that read the book "Animal Farm" you know how that story goes....

However, I respect your thoughts Markus...

No worries, I took it as meaning that anyone who didn't like political threads on the main board were "just background noise", rather than fellow nomad riders.

There are plenty of places on the net to go discuss politics, and there are places were people who vote only one way, and see things as all black and white with no shades of gray can get together and backslap each other. I like this place for motorcycle content.

OK now that it has been moved to the right place I say, IMO it is a great thing. Every state should do it.

I think the AZ law has some merit in bringing attention to the issue being faced in that state, and other areas in this country.

It is a serious problem... I know because I have family and friends that live throughout AZ, from the south to the north.

I cannot imagine too many people would believe allowing ILLEGAL immigrants to sustain themselves and benefit while being in the U.S. is a good-thing -- NO MATTER ONE'S POLITICAL PERSUASION.

...and if they do... I would surely get a beer, and pull-up a chair to hear how they are going to explain their position.

In the meantime... I'll wait around to hear a GOOD explanation; but I will not hold my breath. ;)

Below is a commentary from an ER Doctor. Do you think this might be a big reason our health care system and our social security system are so screwed up? Do you think this might be a big reason our taxes keep going up? Who do you think these people are going to vote for?

From a Florida ER doctor:

"I live and work in a state overrun with illegals. They make more money having kids than we earn working full-time. Today I had a 25-year old with 8 kids - that’s right 8; all illegal anchor babies and she had the nicest nails, cell phone, hand bag, clothing, etc. She makes about $1,500 monthly for each; you do the math".

"I used to say, 'We are the dumbest nation on earth.' Now I must say and sadly admit: 'We are the dumbest people on earth (that includes ME) for we elected the idiot idealogues who have passed the bills that allow this'. Sorry, but we need a revolution. Vote them all out in 2010."

WHAT?? You want me to vote against MY Republican Congressman? But, I got a flyer in the mail reminding me that he is a TRUE CONSERVATIVE just two days ago.

Wait, he did vote for the $700B TARP bill. The one they got on Thursday and voted for on Friday? That's the one. His email to me informed me that he had no choice but had to vote for it for the good of the country.

Oh, he is also in favor of earmarks.

Oh, yeah, I also voted for the Democrat who ran against him in the last election.

I guess I CAN DO IT AGAIN. VOTE THEM ALL OUT. I DON'T CARE WHAT FLAVOR THEY ARE. IF THEY HAVE BEEN THERE LONG ENOUGH TO SEEK RE-ELECTION THEY HAVE BEEN THERE TOO LONG ALREADY.

Picked this up on another forum.

I'm Arizona State Senator Sylvia Allen. I want to explain SB 1070 which I voted for and was just signed by Governor Jan Brewer.
Rancher Rob Krantz was murdered by the drug cartel on his ranch a month ago. I participated in a senate hearing two weeks ago on the border violence, here is just some of the highlights from those who testified.

The people who live within 60 to 80 miles of the Arizona/Mexico Border have for years been terrorized and have pleaded for help to stop the daily invasion of humans who cross their property . One Rancher testified that 300 to 1200 people a DAY come across his ranch vandalizing his property, stealing his vehicles and property, cutting down his fences, and leaving trash. In the last two years he has found 17 dead bodies and two Koran bibles.

Another rancher testified that daily drugs are brought across his ranch in a military operation. A point man with a machine gun goes in front, 1/2 mile behind are the guards fully armed, 1/2 mile behind them are the drugs, behind the drugs 1/2 mile are more guards. These people are violent and they will kill anyone who gets in the way. This was not the only rancher we heard that day that talked about the drug trains.

One man told of two illegal's who came upon his property one shot in the back and the other in the arm by the drug runners who had forced them to carry the drugs and then shot them. Daily they listen to gun fire during the night it is not safe to leave his family alone on the ranch and they can't leave the ranch for fear of nothing being left when they come back.

The border patrol is not on the border. They have set up 60 miles away with check points that do nothing to stop the invasion. They are not allowed to use force in stopping anyone who is entering. They run around chasing them, if they get their hands on them then they can take them back across the border.

Federal prisons have over 35% illegal's and 20% of Arizona prisons are filled with illegal's. In the last few years 80% of our law enforcement that have been killed or wounded have been by an illegal.

The majority of people coming now are people we need to be worried about. The ranchers told us that they have seen a change in the people coming they are not just those who are looking for work and a better life.

The Federal Government has refused for years to do anything to help the border states . We have been over run and once they are here we have the burden of funding state services that they use. Education cost have been over a billion dollars. The healthcare cost billions of dollars. Our State is broke, $3.5 billion deficit and we have many serious decisions to make. One is that we do not have the money to care for any who are not here legally. It has to stop.
The border can be secured. We have the technology we have the ability to stop this invasion. We must know who is coming and they must come in an organized manner legally so that we can assimilate them into our population and protect the sovereignty of our country. We are a nation of laws. We have a responsibility to protect our citizens and to protect the integrity of our country and the government which we live under.

I would give amnesty today to many, but here is the problem, we dare not do this until the Border is secure. It will do no good to forgive them because thousands will come behind them and we will be over run to the point that there will no longer be the United States of America but a North American Union of open borders. I ask you what form of government will we live under? How long will it be before we will be just like Mexico , Canada or any of the other Central American or South American countries? We have already lost our language, everything must be printed in Spanish also. We have already lost our history it is no longer taught in our schools. And we have lost our borders.

The leftist media has distorted what SB 1070 will do. It is not going to set up a Nazi Germany . Are you kidding. The ACLU and the leftist courts will do everything to protect those who are here illegally, but it was an effort to try and stop illegal's from setting up businesses, and employment, and receiving state services and give the ability to local law enforcement when there is probable cause like a traffic stop to determine if they are here legally. Federal law is very clear if you are here on a visa you must have your papers on you at all times. That is the law. In Arizona all you need to show you are a legal citizen is a driver license, MVD identification card, Native American Card, or a Military ID. This is what you need to vote, get a hunting license, etc.. So nothing new has been added to this law. No one is going to be stopped walking down the street etc... The Socialist who are in power in DC are angry because we dare try and do something and that something the Socialist wants us to do is just let them come. They want the "Transformation" to continue.

Maybe it is too late to save America . Maybe we are not worthy of freedom anymore. But as an elected official I must try to do what I can to protect our Constitutional Republic . Living in America is not a right just because you can walk across the border. Being an American is a responsibility and it comes by respecting and upholding the Constitution the law of our land which says what you must do to be a citizen of this country. Freedom is not free.

Now that we have this in the correct forum let me say I am in full support of this bill.

I prefer to call these illegals by their true moniker...criminals...they committed a crime...they are criminals.

The police are looking for these criminals.

If I fit the general description (middle aged white guy with a spare tire) of a criminal I do not have a problem if the police want to question me or check my license + insurance docs. Because I did nothing wrong. I am glad to help narrow the search. We wallow in this era of political correctness when in reality a little Andy Griffith straight talk and questioning could go a long ways in cleaning up this mess.

Remember when the local cop could stop and ask you a couple of questions...like what are you doing? You know back in a more simpler time before the crime rate skyrocketed?

It is about time someone had the balls to take some real action. We need to take back our country.

Even up here in the NW I have seen many good small business people driven out of business because they can't compete with all the illegals/criminals working "under the table".

In addition I see many rental owners that rent to one legitimate family (or at least check out as legitimate) and then 2 or 3 illegal criminal families move in....run up horrendous water/sewer bills for the owner and by the time the owner can get them out of the place legally they have have trashed the rental and the owner is out thousands of dollars.

A couple things the bleeding hearts want to ignore are A) the impact on our economy B) crime rates and C) What about the poor bastards that are trying to enter the country legally? Don't they deserve better? What is their incentive to stay in line and wait their turn?

Here is my take...if they find an illegal without kids....ship them back on the first train/boat out of town....no jail....they would rather be in our jail than back in their country. If you catch them trying to cross the border other than at legal border crossings........ shoot their ass. It will never happen because we are too damn easy on criminals....and that is what they are....criminals.

We need to convict the people who hire these criminals and the people who harbor these criminals.

The only "gray area" is the kids born to these criminals while they are on U.S. soil. What do you do about them? It is not their fault their parents committed a crime.

There is no easy or perfect answer but doing nothing solves nothing.

I guess if I had a young child and my wife and I committed a crime we would be thrown in jail and the kid be shipped to an orphanage or to a relative...right? So why treat this situation any differently?

Great post Schoeney. An answer to your question about the kids would be if the parents are jailed for violent crimes or deported and not wanting to bring their kids back to their country, their is an overwhelming waiting list of good folks waiting for a child or children to adopt.

In California Cinco De Mayo is celebrated in most of the school systems. On the local news one highschool near LA showed a confrontation with some white kids wearing the American Flag design on their T-Shirts. There was one white kid in an electric wheelchair with his American shirt on and a line of demonstrating Mexican kids (14ish) were approaching him and they all had the mexican flag in their hands chanting "mexico" "mexico".

When they got to this kid in the wheelchair the drapped their mexican flag across his face and with his disabled left hand he yanked if off his face and held it. About 3 seconds later the mexican crowd attacked him! all on tv and the parents of the mexican kids said the guy in the wheelchair was the troublemaker because he "disrespected" the mexican holiday by wearing his own flag as he sat in his wheelchair.... This is in the United States?????

People its time to get together and grab a weapon.... any group of hispanics (any racial group for that matter) does that to me is going to get capped and I expect the jury not to convict me!

There is a Constitional Law called "Jury Nullification" which means if your on a Jury for a criminal trial and disagree with the law you can vote "not guilty" even if the judge instructs you to use the legal facts. You can disregard the jury instructions if it contradicts your "core beliefs". It's your Constitutional Rights..

It's time we took back America and stood up for all those who make a stand!!! You won't be guilty in my book!

I'm fed up fellas...

Wow, I agree that people should enter the country legally, and obtain citizenship or leave when their visa runs out. But one guy wants to execute people with no trial, as soon as they step foot across the border. Sounds like East Germany and the wall, but in reverse. I hope my country never turns into killers like that. There has to be a better way.

Another guy wants to murder anyone who taunts him with a flag.

I'm thinking that perhaps you guys are exaggerating for effect, your emotions have run wild, or you kill way too easy. I will never murder someone for taunting me, and I'm surprised that people who are normally reasonable thinking people would turn to murder so easily.

You sound like one of the parents Dan. She actually equated Arizona's law to the Nazi's (no exaggeration for the effect right?).

For those that need a history lesson: If you were caught in the 40's without papers or were determined to be a Jew you were led to a prison and/or executed. "just like the U.S. does?!!. Mercy sakes what ignorance...

Why do all the dumb people come out with the "Nazi" comparison is beyond most American citizens thoughts. More people need to read history books before opening mouth and making such a comment.

Just like the fools that say, "what are you going to do, check papers and make arrests on illegal immigration?"

Hey Einstein, READ THE FEDERAL LAW ON IMMIGRATION" "ALL IMMIGRANTS (now here's the catch word) "MUST" CARRY THEIR PAPERS ON THEM AT ALL TIMES WHILE IN THE UNITED STATES!!!

How many ignorant people didn't know the Federal Law stated that? 99% of the fools thats who....

Yup, your emotions have decreased your ability to think and reason, and remember history. You defaulted to a standard defense without thinking.

Just to catch you up, the Nazis didn't run East Germany, and there wasn't a wall dividing the two Germany's when the Nazis were there. Furthermore, there wasn't two Germany's at all when the Nazis were there.

I was comparing a guy who wants snipers to shoot and kill people coming across the border illegally. That has nothing to do with what you replied on, and is what my comparison to East Germany shooting people trying to cross the border, but in reverse was about.

The rest was about your penchant for murder when taunted. I hope you don't go to the Olympics ever. You might get a foreign flag waved in your face.

I'm going back to my not reading political posts stance. I like you all better when I don't know how easily you would like to murder people.
