Safety inspection

There is no safety inspection for the state of Nevada but the tags are expensive. I pay over $250.00 a year just to have my bike on the road. Insurances are also high for the area around Las Vegas.

No inspections in Florida for any personal transportation. They get you for initial registration and then licenses.

They have started the inspections here in Tenn but not in all cities, don't know what the cost are as they have not started it where I live but to the south of me where I work they have. alot of these folks are now coming to this county to register their cars. so what good it does is anybody's guess- tax dollars at work it 's a wounderful thing. ride safe.

Guess I will just keep quiet about New Mexico. We don't have inspections and licensing fees are reasonable.

Safety inspection

Some counties in NC, such as mine, have gone to the OBD inspection for vehicles. $30 for them to plug in their computer to run their inspection and put a sticker on the windshield. The motorcycle inspections are the same as they have been and is something like $9. The state does have a Highway Use Tax they charge when you buy a vehicle. My 08 Ford Fusion HUT was $675 plus the cost of the plate.

The two-year interval will also lessen the opportunities to use an expired motor vehicle inspection sticker as probable cause to stop/cite. I'd bet the legistature hasn't thought out the loss of revenue to local governments from that aspect.

Texas: Safety inspection required-$12 pencil whipped at any dealer. NO smog tests yet. Annual renewal of plates cheap about $50. Full coverage w/towing thur progressive: $207.
I'm very HAPPY!!!!!!!! :-)

I work nights and usually on the open roadway (higher speed)areas. I rarely, if ever, stop a vehicle for an expired state inspection because I simply don't see it. I usually discover the expired inspection after I make my approach and talk with the driver. However, defective equipment is definitely one of my primary pretextual reasons to say hello. I would say that around 90% of them get a simple warning and 10% of those between the hours of midnight to 3 am get arrested for DUI. BUT...if you have defective equipment plus an expired inspection, it is a 99.9% chance that I will be asking for your autograph on a summons.

Safety inspection

I lived in Utah (with annual safety inspections) before I moved to Arizona (no annual safety inspection) and can tell you the vehicles in Utah are no better or safer for them. Here the DPS officers can pull you over and perform an inspection, but I don't know anyone that's ever happened to. I remember in Utah when they stopped pulling wheels and brake drums to check your brakes. Instead they drive onto some sort of machine and hit your brakes and it somehow measures your stopping ability. That's lame - nothing beats a visual inspection of brake components.

On the other hand, I can't wait to find out how much it's going to cost me to renew my registration next October. Tags aren't cheap here. Probably in the $200 range, at least the tax portion. New vehicles are exempt from emissions testing for the first 5 or 6 years, although they still make you pay the fee. How does that work? Greedy government. And AZ is the ONLY state that tests bike emissions, although ABATE of AZ is working to put a stop to that.

Safety inspection

Here in pa we have inspections once a year. I think back in the 80'S sometime we changed from every 6 months. I ran a towtruck on the Pa turnpike for 20 years on and off let me tell you some of the junk thats out there running is scary. Ive seen ball joints come apart, tierod ends fall off, lots of wheel bearings, I actualy had a car hit a pot hole and the frame broke in half due to rust. I have no problem spending $20.00 a year to be sure my rides are ok. I usually check them out myself first and do my own repairs, saves big bucks sometimes. I'd rather be safe than sorry.
