That is great CJ. I get all my walking while on cafeteria duty every day for 1:30 hours. Love my job...not that though.

You know how it goes. One lap leads to two and then next thing you know you'll be doing marathons. ;)

Keep at it CJ and Mac. Walking is a great way to exercise and also very relaxing. When the heat comes back don't let it keep you from walking. You can always go to a mall and do your walking when the temps go up.

More power to you. I go to the community center, jump on a treadmill in front of the window and march. Or on weekends head up into the mountians above 8000 feet. I melt when it's 110.

I am thinking of buying a treadmill for the warm months of the year.

The barn here is 1/10th from the house. I walk there and back more than 10 times each day. Then do the dog walk O' 30. I'ld like to find some bloomin time to ride, that's what I'ld like to do.
Maybe over the weekend with the tourist traffic I can get to play.. ugg.

Congratulations! I'm a bit "husky" but all I do is work, sleep and sit in front of the computer. I need to start walking.

Being in a FCB or fabric covered box is not the best for health. Never has been and it's not just the sitting. Poor ergonomics will also cause health issues, just ask my neck. :-(

CJ that's great. It's better to commit to something on a smaller scale to begin with. So many times folks just state one day.....'I going to start walking 3-4 miles (just as an example) every day'. Saying this after years of no physical exercise; it's hard to to do. They start out to only not keep it up because it's a big change all at once...kinda the all or nothing mentality.
It's better to commint to small goals at first (ie I'll walk for 10-15 mins every day) and after you've gotten in a habit then you can increase/change your goals from there. I can tell you that this works....I started 1st of Augst with just saying would ride my bicycle at least 20 mins every other day and have built from there. Doing that and counting calories I am down right now 17 lbs. Keep it up and remember if you can't walk for a few days for whatever reasons....just so...okay things happen and then begin again the next day. And thanks for sharing....we can encourage each other;) Old Chinese Proverb I heard it goes something like this: No shame in moving slowly; only shame in not moving at all.

Congrats CJ... keep it up.
The advice of walking stairs was good if you have somewhere to do that. It will do more for you and quicker... that is if your knees are okay to do that.

I work on the second floor of a two story building. Those are the only stairs I encounter on a regular basis.

In the summer months, walking them about 10-times in a row twice a day would still be worth it...
