Kris, It's only the first year, Victory didn't have a touring model right away either. Same with Harley. I'd rather they take the time to get it right rather than just throw something out there and get a bad rep for it. Once you get a bad reputation your screwed. I'm sure if they get enough feedback that people want a full touring model, they'll make one.
I think they spent the majority of their time on the engine, after all what a bike without a great engine??

I haven't made up my mind as to whether I like the new Indians. I thought it would be love at first sight. ?

I'm not quite sure what to think. I do like the styling on the Vintage model, but I think they came up a little short on the Chieftain....not so much in styling, but in common comforts for large touring bikes. There are no hard lowers, and unbelieveably, there is no tour pack with a luggage rack. How can this be a full touring model without those things, especially at 23 large....??

All of the bikes (Chief, Vintage and Chieftain) come with ABS, keyless ignition and cruise control, but the lack of a tour pack on the Chieftain is wholly unnacceptable for their top of the line tourer. The Batwing fairing looks a lot like the Vic Cross Country fairing, only with the driving lights built in....not bad for a fork mounted fairing. The 111ci Thunderstroke is a thing of beauty....and for sure has to be the driving force at this stage of the game. Hopefully the rest will come....what do y'all think?
You can count me out on the new Chief.
  • No crash bars.
  • Indian site did not list ABS (maybe they do have them?)
  • Tank is too small and out of scale for the rest of the bike.
  • Don't like the huge gap in front of the puny-tank and the forks (not good at all).
  • No trunk option
  • Do not like the fairing. Doesn't fit the style-lines of the bike; and has goofy-looking tabs at the bottom-front. (No offense to the Vic-Boys, but that is a Victory fairing -- not an Indian fairing.)

Went to the Indian site and used their "customization" feature. By the time I was done adding the things I wanted... the price exceeded $26k... and still didn't have a trunk.

Oh... and the closest dealer to me is an hour's drive.

Started saving for my new Indian this morning, dropped some cash in the jar. I figure by the time I hit 50 (2 yrs. 2 mths) I'll have the cash ready. Sounds like a great birthday present huh? Hopefully Indian has all the bugs worked out from the lineup by then.

BTW I'm still keeping the Nomad.

Not saying there aren't any bugs (what first year anything doesn't have a few?) but if there are any bugs so far, I've yet to hear of them. They've only been out a few days.
