I looked up the price on an OEM replacement and it was nearly 500 bucks. Whew ![/QUOTE]

A fuel pump from a Mitsubishi or some Japanese car will fit for a lot cheaper. You can do a search to find out or someone may jump in and let you know what car fuel pump it is.

The Vic is great. I LOVED my Nomad, but the Vic is much more bike in terms of power and storage, which is perfect for my wife and I and all the travel we do on it. I sat on an Indian Chieftain yesterday and the seating position is all wrong for me. On the Vic (and on my Nomad), I was able to lean back and kick my legs out forward, somewhat of a reclining position. The Indians have you sitting more vertical, like on a Gold Wing. At least thats how it felt. They are great looking bikes though and I love that 111 Thunderstroke engine! A big Lottery win and I would have one for sure....and work to MAKE it fit me better...haha!

The OEM replacement cost on the Nomad fuel pump is around $500 as TC noted, but there are aftermarket replacement pumps available for about $175 (I think)...maybe even less. There is a huge markup on OEM stuff. I know my dealer used an aftermarket pump (it was immediately available and the OEM was not) and it was approved by Ma Kaw for the warranty work. If you still have any warranty left, check into it. If not, look for an aftermarket pump if you have concerns regarding impending failure.

It is not the Fuel Pump Motor that is the problem -- it is 90% of the time the integrated Fuel Filter that gets clogged making the Pump Motor whine because it has to work so harder

It has been very difficult to back flush this Filter and I have had to do it twice to quite my Fuel Pump.

Has anyone found a 3rd Party Pump with the required integrated Fuel Filter as it is most difficult to clean the existing Filter as I feel mine wasn't back flushed completely as I had to do it a second time.

Yes I purchased one of these on eBay but it does not come with the needed Filter assembly which attaches to it?

The problem is with clogging Filters causing the Motor to wine.

We need a supplier that has a replacement Motor with Filter Assembly at a cheaper price then the OEM Unit.

With that check Valve on the Filter it is impossible to reverse flush it -- I could only force Gas and Air in the forward direction.

Just when I thought the Marvel Mystery oil wasn't doing any good.....I think it finally did. I ran the first tank of gas and no change, the second tank it got quieter and on the third tank the noise is gone. I believe it did the trick. We'll see. Thanks fellers.

This sounds encouraging -- we picked up some Marvel Mystery Oil at our local Wal-Mart and will give it a try come Spring.

It is -17DegC this morning and lots of snow up here in Ottawa Canada yet.

How much did you add to your tank of Gas? I have a 2008 Nomad 1600 and my bottle of Marvel Mystery Oil does not say on the bottle the ratio to use.

I have cleaned my Fuel Pump filter twice as best I could but the Fuel Pump will still sing to me frequently. I would still like to know where we can purchase this Filter Assembly that attaches to or is part of this in tank Fuel Pump and be cheaper then the high cost OEM replacement from Kawasaki.

Any Ideas Fellow Forum Members?

Norther Dancer,

Ron

First time I put it in I put in 4 oz's. Next 2 times I put in 2 oz. I found that the biggest change occurred after it sat overnight. I've put in two tanks fuel after it stopped whinning and it's still silent. But I'm still adding MMO every time too.
