I have a CD manual on the 1600 Classic. I believe the fuel pump is the same as the nomad but not 100% sure. Pm me a e-mail address and I will see what I can do.

On my nomad a little grommet blew out between the pump and the filter. The pump would cycle normal but was spraying fuel in the tank. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1412876418.144018.jpg

I repaired the grommet but then realized why it blew. The filter was plugged enough that I could only get about 28 psi pressure. Think it has to have 38 to 42 to run right. This is from memory so don't hold me to it.

Correction 44 psi and should hold that for 30 secs after it cycles for 3 seconds. Do you have any codes?

Codes? Was your bike running when this grommet blew out?
What were the symptoms? Did it stop running, misfire?

I worked on it half the day but we could not diagnose the problem.
One minute it was running fine, then nothing, not getting any gas, not a drop!
From what we can determin, at this point, I dont think it is a fuel pump issue. I now have it in the Kawa shop so I will let the "pros" try to figure it out. But i suspect the worse, a bad ECU. And that is some high dollar stuff. This is the first time I have ever had to take a bike to a "real" shop! I should know something tomorrow.
Hope for the best, but expect the worst.............

Usually when the ECM goes bad it will send too much fuel.

When I ruined mine, crossed a wire on the fuel module, it was dripping fuel from the front cylinder and sounded like a Kubota tractor.

I think it's the pump. Ross (Trosco) had this happen to his bike. He could tell you how he fixed it.

Is a bad ECU a common problem?
The fuel pump still comes on when key is turned on, but I guess it could still be bad, maybe not pressurizing or pumping fuel? clogged filter?
Will let you all know as soon as I find out something.

No.

Mine went south because I reversed polarity on the fuel module.

Your pump is starting and pressurizing, but most likely the filter is clogged and not letting fuel through.

I've seen this on Kaw's and Suzuki's with the filter 'built in' to the pump.

The filter on the 1600 pump is external to the pump assembly put part of it. It has quite a large surface area. For this to be completely blocked is unlikely, but possible. There would have to be a lot of crud in the tank for this to happen. I only saw a few specks of crud on mine in 60,000 kms.

It's a used bike he bought recently. Anything is possible. I say pull the pump and inspect it.

I would pull the pump too. But the bike is already at a garage.

Shop called and said i need a fuel pump
They wanted 650 bucks for a factory pump!
I took the advise of this forum and went to autozone and got the same pump for 150 bucks, and they said they would install it for me.
So i should have bike back tomorrow around noon.
Knock on wood!

Just a thought. If you post the Autozone part number it could save others the same amount of money in the future.
