Engine Knock--Suspect counter balancer
Bought my 08 brand new. the first thing i noticed was the engine noise. Most everyone says its normal so i am riding it like i stole it. Just got used to it.
Try listening to some other Nomads and see if they sound the same. Login or Register to Remove Ads |

I've got a '03 with just 16k and it's noisy. I asked the mechanic at the dealership once and said it's normal. Mine seems to knock more at lower rpm. It runs great.

Knocks are likely engine counter balance dampers, and or drive gear for them.
Clicking is likely to be ICS valves on a stock bike. Rattles / clattering at low RPM and lugging with acceleration is likely to be ping. Other sounds can be cold oil on a start up and lifters can make clicking. Rattle / Buzzing is likely a loose radiator shroud. A clunk on bumps is likely a connector in the head lamp housing.

UPDATE--Changed the oil, noise is the same. At this point, I'm going to enjoy the bike for the rest of the season. Probably work on it during the off season.

I've gotten used to the fact that the Nomad has a noisy engine. Clickety-Clackety-Clunkety. As long as the performance is right, and the noises are not "new" noises, irregular noises or from obvious damaging like "pinging", then I'm OK.

Dabull--apears to be the same noise, at least the same frequency. Your bike idle speed seems high, and what was the point of reving the motor. You reved it so high I was grittng my teeth!!
