If your looking for a full set of radials, you might check out the Dunlop D251's, haven't tried them, but seriously considering them.

Im happy with the ME880's but the main choice for those was that I really wanted whitewalls. I just seen some Avon whitewalls last week and will seriously give them a second look providing they are available in the correct size.

Your pic could be a little smaller though, it pushes the table width beyond my resolution. Not everyone has 1280 or better.

Nico I picked it up @ leatherup.com. It has reasonable protection and comfortable on hot days . Good grief man your pic in the aviator looks like it's about to slap the "H" out of me :-). I tried to smile for a picture but I wound up looking like that cat in the Alice in Wonderland flick. Maybe that look is why I always attract mean a$$ women.

I personally enjoy the 880's . Other than the stock stones. they are the main ones I know. At only 1500 miles I picked up a nail in the rear on the nomad and replaced it with 880. I like them. I really dont concsider wear. I just buyem when i needem. I have never done a burn out and never owned a single bike long enough to need to replace tires. other than this one flat i had.

Can some one please give a basic decription of the difference between radial and bias ply, or what the pros/cons are of each?

I really like the Me880 on the rear, but now that I have one on the front I didn't care for that one quite as well. I think the bike handled better with the ME880 on the rear & the excedra on the front.

A lot of the Euro Nomad guys seem to like the Contis, but I haven't found anything on them here. I wonder if the European Continentals are the same ones you can buy here, or are they like Hecho en Mexico or something?

They're not easy to find locally. That's for sure.

I put an Elite III on the back and and Elite II on the front 13, 000 mile ago and I still have a lot of tread left on the back tire. I did 300 to 400 miles in heavy rain a couple of weeks ago with a fully loaded bike and I had no problems. I do not think you can go wrong with the Elite III's.

I just dropped off the wheels today to get Metzler 880's. The rear was 163 + tax and the front was 120 + tax. Now I have to remove the swing arm to grease the splines, and I might as well change the gear box fluid. I will tell you what though. Whoever assembled the bike tightened the crap out of the front axle. I had to put a 1" box end wrench on a half inch ratchet to get it loose, and I am not a small boy. Funny thing was the two allen bolts on the one fork leg were hardly snug. Go figure.

I 'm on my 8th set of Metzler's. Love them... However, the $ is on the large side. A lot of you have been talking up the Elite III tires. Are you guys running radials or the bias ply. Also, I went to a 180 on the rear with the Metzler's, can you do the same with the Elite III's

I picked up the wheels at lunch. $347 out the door. I still have to take the swing arm off and lube the damn shaft. It's times like these I'd rather have a belt drive.

I have Elite 3's on mine. Had no problems with the rain or the curves while in West Virginia. I have about 2000 on the rear and about 3000 on the front so far. I really like 'em.
