Mine didn't rattle until I installed the luggage rack...it must have changed the geometry some...trying to figure out a fix, but I don't notice it when the ol lady is on the bike, or when the luggage rack is loaded down - and don't use it when it is just me, so it isn't a big deal...a set of washers may solve the problem.

backrest rattle

I had experienced the rattle also ans began using rubber washers used in water hose but they get chewed up,esp. when you take the backrest off and on frequently.I wound up using electrical tape and used it liberally on the quick release setup and replaced each time the backrest is installed.

Vaquero dirty details

Seriously considering swapping my Stratoliner for a red '11 Vaquero. So what all do I need to know about these bikes? Any known problems, shortcomings?

What's bad about these bikes?
What's exceptionally good?

Thanks!

I have the OEM passenger floorboards as well. I wonder if yours have a defect? Mine actuallly click into place when i push them in the up position. You might want to consider taking them back.
I purchased mine aftermarket and put them together my self and it is probably missing the BB that make it lock in place

Hey All

New to the forum, been lurking since I bought my Vaquero last month, upgrade from a 1500 classic. Quick question, Black levers? Know where I may get some that isn't 100+ bucks?

Just got some black mirrors from ebay, they are cheap and prolly wont last the rest of the summer but they look decent enough lol, made my own windshield with plexi from lowes and door trim from walmart. Also added the ipod connector.

Just got exhaust wrap in yesterday and plan to wrap the pipes this weekend. I cant really afford pipes until the first of the year so I have thought about a debaffle until I can.

Thoughts, comments on if it is worth it to do so?

Wrap the exhaust and de-baffle the mufflers, two very good mods that are well worth the time and $$ spent.

... and send your throttle grip to Ray for his throttle mod, if you could only have ONE mod done that's the mod to do!

Id imagine its a simple hack and slash until it all falls out but any helpful tips would be awesome.

Mileage milestone

Sunday, August 19th, my Vaquero was in my ownership 16 months, and on a nice long ride around Lake Okeechobee crossed another mileage milestone, 26,000 mls in 16 months...

Funny, I don;t ride my Hayabusa much anymore...I wonder why?

My R1 is the same, I spend all my time on the Vaquero and rarely ride the R1 and the R1 gets very jealous... I'm considering making the R1 a track only bike, not much point in tags and insuring the R1 any longer, and with Michigan's BS 'fees' added on to the insurance policy it's hard to justify the expense when I hardly even ride it on the street any more...

Who knows what reserve is, but someone may get a deal. And bonus, it's the fastest color! :)
