Getting tires to the shop for mounting

There has been a lot of talk in the various forums here about getting tires mounted. I thought I'd share how I got the bike and tires to the shop.

I took off the hard bags, they need to come off anyway at home or at the shop. I left the mounting frame work for the bags.

A tire will sit on the frames on each side without touching any paint. All I did was run some straps to hold the tires in place, and off I went.

The tires didn't move at all, and stayed secure all the way. It was an easy way to get the bike, and the tires where they needed to go in one trip.

They installed them while I waited.

Smart thinking! I wonder, could I get my golf bag to sit there?

Doc, I called the local Kawi dealer and asked if they would mount tires that I didn't buy from them, they said that they would do it no problem.

In the end, I went with a mechanic working out of his garage that I found on Craigslist. He did them for $60 total for both tires.

Some dealers will, some won't. The dealer that I used to use in Utah would let me have them shipped right to them, then the would put them on for me.

I wonder if I can get my bass amp and guitars to sit on the frames. I think the amp weighs about 80 lbs.; may be a little heavy.

One guitar on each side. Put wheels on the amp & tow it. ;)
