My wife wants to go riding, but not on my current ride. She really liked the Nomad, but I wouldn't go back to it. Not sure about a GW either. I guess I'll have to take her out to look and sit on bikes. She hates plastic.

You're not that far from Superstition or Scottsdale HD!

I know where Scottsdale is, not Superstition. Chester's is near one of the BMW dealers I go to too. I think I'd want to rent each prospect before buying anything.

Take a look at the GTL 1600 Jim, they are quite a nice machine. I havn't ridden one but my neighbour did and said they are an incredibly fast and good handling bike.

One, I think the 1600 has a few too many bugs and too expensive to own. Two, the old lady doesn't like to ride on my current beemer and doesn't like bikes with plastic. For instance, to just have the valve clearances checked on the 1600 it's like $300-400. To have them adjusted is closer to $1000. Both cams have to come out to change the clearances, which have to to checked every 18K miles. I'll pass. If I had money to burn and didn't care because the dealer serviced it, may be, but I'd rather have something easier to maintain as I do it myself. FWIW, the long block in the 1600 costs $14400 american. Just for the part. It's one bike I wouldn't want to make a mistake with when working on it.

That makes sense Jim, I wouldn't want one either if the valves need adjusting like that. Also heard that the early models had a clunky transmission that was sometimes covered under warranty, They fixed the problem in the later models.

And water pump issues. Lots of them on the 2012-13 models.

You should be so lucky to have a wife that does not like plastic.....I think every woman I know lives for plastic.

Many women have a talent of turning capital into other things, plastic, cash or otherwise.
