What diameter is the saddlebag crash bar?

Mine measures 1 1/8 inches on the rear bar for 1600.

Close an adjustable wrench on it and measure the gap on the wrench and you'll have the diameter.

This brings up another subject, What is the difference between the 1500 & 1600 bikes other than the larger engine.

First question; is the engine the same, just a larger bore or longer stroke?? What parts are interchangable between the two models? Inquring minds need to know? -Rich

The outside of the engines are the same, difference is in the stroke, 1500's have a 102mm bore(4.016") and a 90mm stroke (3.543"). The 1600's have a 102mm (same) bore and a 95mm stroke (3.74"). other than the exhaust, saddlebags,brake pads, levers and handlebar switches, everything else is different. When I got my 1600 (first year for the 1600's), it was a real bummer trying to find bling and other goodies for it. There's still not a lot out there for the 1600.

I agree VulcanE, mine is an '05 first yr out and I could not find hardly anything to fit it til now.
