Big Daddy, I did the same thing to my 03' took about 3 months, I was able to find a front wheel that was still brand new off e-bay and machine spacers to make it fit. The chrome wheels really set off these bikes. If you do the work yourself you really can turn these bikes out for a reasonable cost. Job well done friend. You made it your own.

I need to know more about your front wheel. I have a 06 1600 I want to put a 21" wheel on front and lower the back end.

Honestly there isn't much to it, I found a rim on e-bay and bought it. The rim retails for $1,500 I got it for $250. I could not find a place that makes rims for the Nomad but I knew that the only thing that was different was the inside and outside diameter of the bearings and spacers, once I figured out what size my axle diameter was I ordered new bearings to match the axle then I was able to mock up the wheel and center it on the forks and get my measurement for the spacers I had to get machined to hold it in place. Make sure you get these machined out of stainless steel. Finally I had to relocate the mounting bracket for may break to match up with the new rotor. It sounds very scary but if you have the correct tools and a good machine shop to lean on anything is possible. Heck you could even throw them an extra bill to come over and help you get them measurements so that they know exactly what you are doing. Besides you will be able to save a ton of money if you can open you buying to every rim on the market being that you are making it fit anyway. Look closely and you can see the spacers I had machined to center my rim. Lastly I bought a new wrapper fender for $140.00 Look to the right of my bike in the photo where the bike is on the stand and you will see the spacers that came off the original rim and the other photo shows the new stainless spacers mounted.

Good job. I cant imagine not having a batwing fairing. I give Harley credit for coming up with such a great fairing design. But I honestly think they look better on the Nomad than the Harley. Seems to go better with the nomad swoopy shaped bags than the Squared look of the Harley bags.

Have any of you seen powder coated chrome? I found a company that charge £30 ( $50)per wheel, and i cant tell it from dipped chrome.

No I haven't seen powder coated chrome and didn't know they could do chrome. I'd like to see your wheels if you wouldn't mind posting a couple of photos. This might be something to consider if the price is right. Plating is expensive.

I wont be having mine done for a few month's, i am building a trailer at the moment, then i am going to make a towing bracket, and when i take the back wheel out to fit it, i will get both wheel's and the bracket chromed. There must be company's over there that do it, us English are usually the last to hear of new technology.
