Well that is right. If you ride without a helmet just because you legally can, then try sex without a contraceptive, you`ll see it`s fun.
Actually if someone decides it is their choice to wear protection or not, I do not care unless you are from my province where my tax dollars will have to go toward your medical expenses instead of some one who needs medical attention through no fault of their own.

I would never ride without a helmet, run a car tire, or have loud pipes. That should keep the thread going for a while (g).

I know most everybody thinks about wearing a helmet in case of a crash, a flip side to it should be considered in everyday riding. There were a lot of bugs when I was touring in September. Sure the glasses some of the riders were wearing protected their eyes to a degree. More than one of the riders I saw had blood on their cheeks or foreheads when a couple of those monsters hit them at highway speed. Even with the higher windscreen on my Nomad one of those bugs hit my helmet and sounded like a shotgun blast. Had to pull over and clean my face shield so I could see the road. When I finally started back to Arizona in early October the temperatures were down around 20 to 40 degrees early in the morning. I was very happy to have the trusty helmet to keep my head warmer. Ultimately it comes down to personal choice and how lucky one may or may not feel. We have no protection against the heavier objects that will find their way into our path. I prefer to have some protection with the helmet, what little it may be, to give me a chance.

We ride motorcycles not buses, I wear a helmet! Should you?

I was saved by my helmet in the 70's when I Tboned a van that turned in front of me.
No doubt in my mind I would have died in that accident without a helmet as my helmet was heavily damaged. I have worn a full face helmet ever since. |

I just read a report that said "3" motorcyclists die every day at intersections in America!
They also said that motorcycle deaths are up 9%. A poll showed that the majority agreed that helmets should be mandatory. I believe in choice, 'that means I should choose'. But in my case I choose to wear a helmet.

You need to live a little John, and ride way over the speed limit once in a while as well.
