They must show that video at the beginning of every H.O.G meeting and every other H.D. sponsored event. Gotta fire up the image lemmings. I wonder how many worshipers cheered when they saw it.

Yeah, but I wonder how many of us want a HD after watching an episode of SOA?

I went to a Demo Ride for 2013 models on Saturday. I almost never miss these events and H-D Canada always makes its demos a great experience. I enjoy being surrounded by new bikes and the first hand experience riding new models. The same is true for Suzuki, Honda and Yamaha events, at least the ones that I've been to were good... Kawasaki does not do demos in my area.

Having said that I cannot stand the local H-D crowd. I dislike most of them because of the way they conduct themselves in a group setting, the way they "decorate" their riding gear, the way they talk to one another, etc. And I don't even want to talk about the "ranks" they display on their jackets.

Now that I ride an Electra Glide myself, I have even harder time associating myself with that bunch and I try to park my bike at an anonymous spot far away from theirs. But this becomes extremely difficult when you are at an H-D event.

Back to the subject, H-D ads work. Go to a demo ride or other H-D event to see it for yourself. But if you want to meet real riders, you need to cross the state line.

On Saturday, H-D of Scottsdale held "Bob's Biker Blast". "Bob" is Bob Parsons, the president of Go Daddy dot com and owner of the dealership. This was an all-day party with food and with .38 Special and George Thorogood and the Destroyers closing out the festivities. Admission was free for riders. Yep, if you have a motorcycle endorsement you and one other got in free of charge.

We didn't go, because we had other things to do. I'm just throwing this out there because how many otherdealers throw a party like this?

That would have been a great party, Thorogood is one of my favorites. Other dealers may not be able to afford a event like that, I'm sure it cost a fair bit to put something like that on.

Well yeah, Bob Parsons is a very wealthy guy. The annual Christmas Parties he throws for Go Daddy are legendary. He rents Chase Field (where the AZ Diamondbacks play), hires bands like Aerosmith or ZZ Top to perform and gives away cars and cruise vacations to his employees.

He has deeper pockets than most dealers.

I haven't been to his dealership in maybe a couple of years, I guess I should pay a visit and see what he's done with the place since he took it over about a year ago.

I've been to the BMW/Big four side a couple times. It's ok. Nicer than the BMW dealer down your way, but I've heard GOAZ is expensive for service and sales stuff. I have to go there soon to have a couple warranty issues taken care of.

The last time I was there it was Hacienda H-D and didn't sell any other brands (well, Buell). Time for a look around there, I suppose.

It's always fun to go window shopping I suppose. May be frustrating too.
