Radiator Leaks

On my ride over the weekend with Tomk he noticed a few dried drops of radiator fluid in the bottom front fins that appearently have dripped from an unknown spot.

Tom informed me that he had a few dried drip marks in the exact same spot and it turned out to be a leaking thermostat.

For those who've had a radiator minor leak, can you shed light on where the leak originated from? Unfortunately I'll have to pull the tank to get to the thermostat!

Look'n like no one's leak'n BD? I'm not either, and I don't know if this will help, but I did have a rubber oil line blow off right at the front of my engine (just below the front barrel) coming from the heads. I was surprised at the lousy quality of the clamp. I'd suspect the various located clamped fittings anywhere in the cooling system first. Again, unfortunately (or not for most), I don't know where they may be. Sorry I couldn't help more - Good luck.

Try checking the rad cap, sometimes some gunge builds up under the rubber seal on the cap and in the neck of the rad, If thats the problem you are usually due for a antifreeze change. This happened to me once, and I pulled my hair out trying to find the reason it was leaking, but was easy to fix once I found it.

I'm going to check everything. The bike is 2 years old and only has 6,000 miles so I doubt grunge has built up that quickly. I've been told that lots of times the hose clamps were installed poorly and I was wondering if that was a common issues when the bike showed signs of leakage..

Thats quite possilble also, BD; check them for rubbing and wear also. Things do get missed at the factory sometimes.
