I used to buy Bosch filters for my Nomad and 800 at Autozone. I am not sure of the filter # that the 1700 uses. If it is the same as the 1600, you have a couple choices, one is longer than the other. I am sure someone with a 1700 will chime in.

If it uses a 6017A it's the same. The Bosch 3300 is the standard length and the 3323 is longer. I used the 3323 on my 800 as the filter is in the front and the extra length isn't an issue. The Nomad has the catalytic converter and I had to use the standard one.

I wouldn't put a fram filer on anything I own.

I use the Bosch 3300 or the Purolator PL14612. Gadget has a link on here for oil filters.

We have a filter listing on our Tech boards here as well. My favorite is the Super Tech ST7317.

I used the Super Tech 7317 on my 1500 Nomad as well as the 1700 Nomad I now own. At just over 3 bucks at walmart its a little longer and a better filter than stock. Much better than a fram also.-----------Murf

An update on super tech oil filters---As of Feb. 2012 walmart pulled all their super tech filters off the shelves. My Walmart now carries the Purolator Pure One filters for the same price as the super techs. Around $3.27. Pure One PL14612 and the longer PL14610 fit the Nomads and are supposed to be better than the super techs. I need to use the PL14612 for my 1700 and the longer PL14610 fits my 1500 just fine.------------Murf

The Kawasaki OEM filter from the 1600 is the same as the 1700.
