Intercom System

For those of you that have installed the equipment for the intercom systems on a Voyager, I have a few questions. As for hooking into the motorcycle, do I need to order K10400-036 (headset connection kit) and K10400-035 (passenger headset adaptor cable)? I am going to use the IMC HSV140 (7-pin) headsets. Will the two adaptors be the only things I need from Kawasaki?

Thanks and ride safe!

Hey Okie, How's that IMC headset working? I ordered one. The first arrived broken, the second had an issue with lack of gain in the passenger mic (she had to yell for me to hear her. OK-that's normal!) I'm waiting on the replacement-hoping it was just a fluke.

Big Dog, I have only ordered one for me. Still saving a few extra bucks and then will order hers. Mine worked good as for the headphone portion.

Well, I received my third HSV140 from IMC today. The microphone simply does not work with the Vaquero. I have the Kawi rider headset in my 3/4 helmet and it works fine on both CB and intercom. The IMC headset hears everything fine, but the mic does absolutely nothing, even with the intercom vox open. Both headests work the same plugged into either the driver or passenger port. So, I'm wondering if anyone else has the IMC HSV140 setup on their Voyager or Vaquero and can confirm if the mic works. Okie, you can turn your intercom on and open the vox-you should be able to hear yourself in the headset speakers (that's how the Kawi headset works.) If not, I suspect you have the same issue. I'll be calling IMC on Monday and having some more dialog with them.

The kawasaki set up works flawlessly and the passenger has separate controls for volume, and PTT. Does the IMC stuff have that for the passenger?

The only issue I am having with the rider headset is the cord is getting a little loose where it connects to the mic, but that is probably my fault because of the several dozen times I forgot I was connected and got off the bike before taking my helmet off.

No, the IMC does not have those controls. But the IMC is a standalone headset and can be used on her shorty helmet without speaker pockets (or with no helmet, if desired.) If Kawi had that setup it would have been a no brainer. The IMC gives ME two options-the 3/4 with the Kawi setup, or my shorty with the headset (if she is not riding.) She doesn't care about PTT or volume control. If I use it with my shorty, that's not an issue. But I may have to go that way if IMC can't fix it.

The HSV140 headset from iMC is also used on the Victory and Can Am Spyder (same radio?) They have had microphone issues on the Victory, and have a new headset kit expected soon that should fix the problem. I will report back when I hear something. (no pun intended!)
