Picking up a dropped Nomad
Both times I've used the hip into the seat and stand up method.
Don't let the adrenaline get to your brain. This is a real good time to hurt your back. Stay within yourself. Oh yeah - if it's FI don't forget to cycle the ignition switch. |

Dropped mine more than a few times, only time I had a hard time picking it back up was while in gravel where I couldn't plant my feet. Dare I say if you ain't dropping it you ain't riding it? Only embarrassing time was with the SO on with me, her saying WTF??? Sh1t happens

I had an accident 2 days after getting the nomad. Hit the brakes too hard and with new tires and all the bike decided to go for a roll along the road. Little damage to it just scraped engine guards. Me, a broken right radius bone, right above a previous break where a steel plate had been put it. I still don't know how I did it but I picked the bike up and rode it a mile and a half back home. Got it on the drive then the pain hit!!! Could not ride for 3 months as it took longer to heal than it should have ( I wonder why?). Fine now and enjoying riding.

I haven't dropped the Nomad--yet. But when people ask me "if you drop it how are you going to get such a big bike back up"? My answer: "The correct way." When I first started riding (over 20 years now) I was taught how to pick up a bike, they let me practice on several bikes, leverage works every time. Being 5'6" and being a woman I knew that macho brute force thing wasn't going to work :-)

don't forget to make sure the handle bars are at full turn using the butt lift method. I have used it and is taught in the experienced rider MSF course, and ride like a pro series.

This is exactly the way I did it when I dropped mine (The first day I brought it home no less!). I am not a very strong guy, but I was able to get up without any problems at all using this method!
