Anyone have experience with Garmin Quest?

I am looking for low cost GPS for my Nomad. I found a refurbished Garmin Quest for $140 plus shipping. I was wondering if anyone has any experience with this unit? It is supposed to be waterproof and "Motorcycle Friendly".

I have been looking at the same unit. A friend of mine has one and he is very pleased with it.

There is a Quest and a Quest 2. The only diff I can determine is that the Quest 2 comes pre-loaded with the map software, where the Quest comes with the software to download.

vaccam,

I have been looking at the Quest also. The Quest 2 has solid state memory while the Quest has 115MB of memory.

Anyone have experience with Garmin Quest?

I don't have experience with the Quest and Quest 2, but I do have experience with other Garmin models. I'll just focus on the preloaded maps vs. downloading maps. I have a Garmin III+ and a Garmin V, where you have to download the maps for various regions. Let me tell you, it's a PITA!!! If you are traveling more than, say 6 hours, you probably will run out of the detailed maps. What I used to do was load detailed maps of the destination only, or the destination and any key points in between that I was interested in, but this meant 1) Constantly loading/reloading maps, and 2) There were gaps that weren't covered. On the Garmin V at least, this did make a difference in the routing. And as I said, it's a pain.

I now have a Garmin 2730 with the full maps preloaded. (the other GPSs are for Geocaching use now) Now I only have to load things like waypoints, routes, etc. (if I want to, I could also do directly on the GPS). So, So SO much easier.

Unless you plan to stay in one basic area all the time, I really suggest getting a GPS (whether Quest 2 or some other) that is preloaded with the full set of maps for the US / Canada.

I have the quest.
I like it. it works great on the bike. It is rechargeable and will run 8+ hours without a recharge. I have not hardwired it because of the long battery life.

I have a RAM mount for my handle bar.
