Irate Too fast on 2 lanes

Took a nice ride down to WI over the weekend. Very enjoyable except I was suprised how fast the traffic was moving on Saturday - nothing less than 65 it seemed. And on state hwy 18 (a 2-lane 55mph road) it was all running at 70!

I think that's crazy, especially when there was a lot of farm equipmnet on the roads too.

Trying to keep my speed down to 65 I got passed on the right by some lady in a VW! She blew by on a short left-turn bypass lane.

I don't like being the guy leading a parade down the highway but 70 mph on 2 lanes is just too quick to be safe.

Call me old or call me slow, but I like 60mph just fine on those roads.

Cal

I agree with that. If your like me, I choose the back roads because I DON'T want to ride 70mph all the time.

Max speed on any 2 lane road in Arkansas is 55.
Which means about 60, that's seems about right to me.
I'm riding for fun not excitement.

If Im on the Interstates on a long ride, I like to go as fast as traffic will allow and put some miles behind me. On the secondary roads I enjoy the ride at a much relaxed pace.

Yeah, I don't mind running faster and keeping with traffic on roads built for higher speeds. I'll take the divided multi-lanes when I have to or just need to make some miles.

Things can happen pretty fast when you're travelling 65 or faster on rural roads.
