Does anyone have Spectre Covers?

Does anyone have the Spectre chrome covers on their 1600's?

If so do you have the p/n for a K&N filter?

And do you have Installation Instructions?

I bought a TFI from Donnie[caper] and he threw in a set of Spectre covers with the purchase, but I can't find any info on them and I'm wanting to use them on my bike, but all I have are the 2 covers with no filters and no Instructions. Can somebody help?

Check Gadgets Fixit sight, I think there is an article there on the Spectre covers.

Those are covers for a 9" filter. Might just have to search by size on the K&N website.

Goose you can also get a 9" spectra filter that is reusable like the K&N for a lot less money and if you don't have a backing plate for it Joe will make you one. I only used one here are some pictures of both sides of mine.

The 9" x 2" K&N part # is E-3527. Parts stores don't carry them cause they aren't a standard auto part item.
One thing I noticed about the K&N filter is the sun and weather seem to cause the red color to fade on the top side. I don't know if it's the vertical angle of the filter and the oil drains down or the sun and weather. Also, as a personal touch, I pulled the wire mesh from a Spectre filter and trim off the edges that were in the the rubber then painted it black and put it on the K&N filter.

+1 on the fade of the red on the K&N down here in bright light. It doesnt last 1 month and its nearly white.

The K&N filter media is white. The red comes from the oil used to charge the filter. I clean mine, get it all nice and white, apply the oil and it turns pinkish-red. After a couple of weeks it's all gray/black again. That's the filter doing its job.
