CLEARVIEW WINDSHIELD INSTALL

I know there's another thread somewhere that several of us mentioned ordering a clearview windshield. sorry to duplicate.
I received my new screen almost exactly when promised. It arrived "OVER-PACKED" in its box. Only a nuclear blast was going to damage that thing in transit.
When I removed it from the box it had a thick plastic film covering it for added protection. I left the film in place until I completely had it installed. The directions where clear except for one thing..they didn't mention if you needed to reuse the short plastic piece that is installed on the OEM. So, to play it safe I re-installed it on the new unit. NOTE: remove the plastic film from the area covered by the short piece!!!!. I always learn the hard way.
Otherwise the install went very smooth. All the holes on the new screen lined up perfectly with the hardware. My screen had to be "custom" cut cause I was concerned about it clearing the armature of the driving spots I have installed. Perfect fit!!
The dimensions on the new unit are larger than the OEM. After installing the new I held the OEM up to it to see the difference...WOW. It is quite a bit wider and the deflector that is molded into the top area should deflect more air up and reduce turbulence. I ordered mine with the tint which is noticeable but not to dark to interfere with night riding. I haven't been able to ride with it yet ( we are in the process of receiving 10-15 inches of snow as I type) so when I do I'll update you folks. Based on what I've seen so far I expect it will do everything as advertised. Clearview awesome to deal with too. ;

CLEARVIEW WINDSHIELD INSTALL

I'm wondering how much additional protection that windshield will provide. With the super sized lowers on my Nomad not much wind ever gets to me even at high speeds. Waiting for pics!!!!

Jon, I waited about 8-10 weeks for mine. Worth the wait though.

I'm waiting to compare the bottom of the new large Clearview to see if the large lowers discussed in this site will fit anything other then OEM.

Jon,

I spoke to them on Tuesday and found out you do not have to re-use the short plastic peice that is mounted with the oem screen. You can if you want to. If you do be sure to remove the plastic film before re-fitting that short peice. I didn't!!
If you need any help you can call me if you want.

vin
