The venting mechanism that is under the cap works like sh*t! Unfortunately you have to fix it yourself because MaKaw is clueless that some of us have high pressure gas leakers!! There is a clear membrane or as beez said a diaphram, unlike the one in Nico's butt, that needs to be removed. It blocks a small hole that would normally be used for venting and redirects it to a spring operated "thingy". Just remove this small 1/8th inch clear plastic circle and all will be ok! Probably violates some vapor BS law but what the heck.

BD, I looked at the diagram on Gadgets page. Is the membrane the thing labeled Milar flapper valve? Also, if you remove this you don't have to cut the spring, correct?

When you remove the cap on your bike and turn it upside down there is a cover over the venting mechanism. Remove the cover and you'll see two somewhat semi circle black plastic pieces. If you look between them after taking it apart there is a small circle with a minute hole in one of those pieces that has an opaque semi clear plastic "wafer" covering that really small hole. Just remove that "wafer" It's about an eighth inch in diameter so use your cheater glasses. Reassemble.

I took apart the whole assembly by accident and all the springs came out including the locking mechanism that pushes the two outward sliding "tongues" that keep the cap closed.

It took about 15 minutes to figure out how to put it all back together, the springs will work against you in this process, always trying to not let you put the parts together!

Once I did this I have absolutely no pressure in my tank at all. Mine was awful in the beginning, dripping gas everywhere..

I would never have done it that way TC. You should have cut the spring like the instructions stated. Did you save the diaphram? I hope so.

How do you feel about this Doc?

Let me see, on the one hand I could take mechanical advice from a guy just hanging out in the garage oooooorrrrrrrr , I could take advice from the guy who OWNS the garage. I think I will take the advice of the guy who owns it, but thanks for your concern Beezer.

I would never have done it that way. It was much more enjoyable cutting a loop off the tiny spring
