NEED HELP FUEL MILEAGE GOING UP ALOT???

The only shop that would put it on a dyno was a race shop and when I got it back it was running way to rich. I went back and told the guy it was to rich and he told me it was way to lean from stock and that was were it needed to be. long story short I put the map from dynojet back on and it has been that way ever since . What a waste of $250.00 oh well live and learn. by the way the way he had it set my fuel light would come on at about 70-80 miles to rich??? I think so. I had guys that were ridding behind me say it would leave black soot on there visors. it was my james bond smoke machine.

Well if that pc III was mine it would be gone, for a Cobra rig or a TFI rig.. Sometimes a lot of money for a thing is just a lot of money for a thing... If we had a lamda sond sniffer in the exhaust it would work better.

Really this is hard to take I think someone is playing a game with you too. On the other hand i expect 40+ MPGs from my Nomad.

Anything less wohn't impress me very much.

If you are convinced, then begin a search for all possible vac leaks, but I have my doubts you will find any.. But you could.

I would be very interested in you misting WD-40 right into the intake with the filter out of that charger... Short bursts and listen to rpm or better read it on a tach..

Continue making bursts longer and longer untill you hear the rpm bog to lower rpm..

If a mini burst gets you lower rpm just stop as that means the engine is overly rich in the first place. Don't use another product to do this, just WD-40.

NEED HELP FUEL MILEAGE GOING UP ALOT???

Hey Spirello,

Did I see you on Sunday as you were pulling out of the Shell station in Gresham? I was headed south and you were headed north.

Good luck on the fuel issue.

NEED HELP FUEL MILEAGE GOING UP ALOT???

when troubleshooting, don't overlook the obvious, so I've gotta ask you about your total mileage although you said it is a 2006 Nomad. Maybe your Nomad is still breaking-in and your fuel economy is improving. ???

I think its been broke in for awhile now I have about 31k on it. And I would expect the mpg to go up a little but 9-11 mpg increase ??????????? seems like alot for a overnight change.

NEED HELP FUEL MILEAGE GOING UP ALOT???

I had called Power Commander a few weeks back and asked them about my mpg's and he had me do a change to the map and my mpg's have bumped up to the average 40 mark now. This is a true mpg as well because I have the speedo healer on there making the odometer read bang on.

First, it sounds to me like you bike was running wrong before the mileage changed. About 38-40 mpg under reasonable conditions is what your Nomad (set up your way) should be getting. If you were getting 29 consistently before then you should have been trouble shooting it then!
That said, If bikes running good now (no backfires, pings, stalls ect.), plugs look good (lite brown with no build up and no white or yellow indicating lean) then you probably don't have issue with the engine side of things. I'd check the other side of things. How about checking the Odometer, is it reasonable accurate now and is that different than before? Did you by any chance cange a tire recently to another size. Or do something that would reduce your drag like removing the lowers or switching windshields or loosing 100lbs on a new diet?
