Baffles Are Finally Out

Having the right tools is a big part of making an easy job with a lot of projects, compared to struggling and ending up with a mess.

Go to O'Reilly' or another parts store that has a slide hammer you can rent. Actually you pay $37 and when you take it back you get your money back. I put a 7/8 nut on the end of it and slid it in the baffles. With three medium hard pulls on the right one and it was out. The left one only took two medium hard pulls on the weight. I want to thank everyone for offering your help and support and for not giving up on me. You never let me give up when at times I felt like I was going to do just that. All of you guys and girls gave me strength and encouragement and I never gave up on you or the job of getting those stubborn baffles out. Hope the picture shows up. They are only 9 1/2 inches long. Who would have thought something so small could cause so much agravation. Once again, thanks to all with your advice and encouragement.

glad you got them...just think of them as sort of like pulling teeth

Ivan, there is a weld that holds each baffle in. See BD's debaffle instructions. But don't listen to the crap about using any type of pliers to get them out. Just head on over to O'Reilly's or any part store that has a slide hammer that you can use to get the baffles out. Get a good 1 3/4 inch holesaw for metal and wood and some good cutting oil. Then follow BD's debaffle instructions. You can see my previous post, debaffling and need your help. Good luck.

They are welded on the outside end only. The inside end is a slip fit. Yes, a hole saw is needed to cut them out.
