Question on Caddman's air mod or woody's take on it ala vn1700

been looking at Caddman's air intake mode and was wondering if anyone has done this or wood's version to a vn1700.
I have seen where it can't be done, but isn't Thunder mfg version just a refined version?
Seems the only thing I would really have to do is fab my own back plate.

any thoughts?
