Sad Day for Schoeney

I sold my 2003 Nomad today. It was hard seeing her drive away.

She has been a great bike and still in great shape. I told Kris she was like an old pair of favorite jeans. Just felt good. A very trusty steed. Never hesitated to ride anywhere or any distance.

Sold her to a nice younger guy from the Seattle area. He was very tall (maybe 6'6") so he should like the riding position and comfort. His Dad has a 2003 Classic so they were both familiar with the great attributes of the bike. Especially the reliability and low maintenance.

I suspect he will be joining the site at some time. I encouraged him to join. So you guys behave!

So the question now is....what do I buy? I can see a lighter bike in my future or maybe one that when stopped my leg is straighter. I have had nothing but problems with my most recent left knee surgery (a very minor one....only torn meniscus.. but more problems than the right knee that has 2 screws in it...no issues 16 years later). I can run 10 miles in a straight line but twisting and lateral movement just play havoc on the left knee especially when under load, like when riding 2 up and stopped or stopping while in a turn. Haven't dropped the bike but had a couple wobbly moments.

It will be tough to live up to the enjoyment I have had with my Nomad. But I suspect I gave her a good home. That was important to me.
