Eureka Springs trip report

Rick, Teresa, Liz and I cheated the rain when we left Wednesday morning by being on the road at 7:00 am. Rain moved into north Missouri about 30 minutes later. We avoided it by zig zagging south and west always watching the dark clouds. We finally got south of the system at Springfield and finished the ride to ES in sunshine. We arrived at the Riders Rest to meet some old friends and make new ones. The town was a little crowded as the scooters and the Victory riders was there also.

It seems to us that the VROC Reunion keeps getting smaller every year. With the economy the way it is Kawasaki and ROK cutting back on what they do with prizes, banquet support and such and lack of planned activities it is just not the rally it used to be. Rick and I tried to organize sort of a scavenger hunt but only 3 people was interested and only 2 put up the entry fee, so we just gave them back their money and found other things to do.

One day we lead some people that had never been in Oklahoma on there bikes up across Missouri Hwy 90, down into Oklahoma and then back across to ES on a full day trip. Another day we rode again up into Missouri to a little BBQ place on hwy 13. I am not saying it is as good as what Victor cooked but right now I think it is the best BBQ in the ES area and only 35 miles away. Great ride to get there also. Rick escorted Teresa and Liz down town as I refuse to go there and they both did some shopping and brought back fudge.

While we where in ES it did rain one night around 1:00 am and then Saturday evening after most of the activities where done and we where already at the motel. We left Sunday morning with reports for heavy rain in our home area so we more less went straight north letting the storm move on through the area and arrived home with sunshine. The whole trip and we never had to even put on a rain coat, it doesn't get much better than that.

So now it is catch up on the house chores, cut the grass, etc, give the bikes a bath and get ready to head to Antlers next week. I hope we can have another great trip without rain but I don't think I can be that lucky. Anyway rain or not we will see you all in around 10 days.
