Rides

Three long group rides are planned. It's your choice whether to ride along or take the day and do your own thing. Due to the number of bikes we are expecting, we will probably form a couple groups and leave a few minutes apart, but will all be on the same route at the same time. All of the rides will provide incredible scenery, enjoyable roads and plenty of great photo opportunities!

If you would like me to email you the exact ride routes (.gpx files from HD Ride planner) to load into your GPS units prior to the rally, just send me an email about a month or two before you head out and I'll get them to you. They will include all scheduled stops (food/fuel, etc.)

Monday Aug 22-

Most members will be arriving throughout the day and checking in to the Curly Redwood Lodge. Joel will be there about 12:00 noon to get a table set up for Rally check in. Please turn in your Rally Waiver when doing so. Once you have settled in, there are no official plans for dinner, so feel free to explore the town or just hang out. My group will arrive sometime late in the afternoon.

Tuesday Aug 23- Rally officially begins!

Please gather in the parking lot at 8:00am for opening remarks and ride overview. Kickstands up about 8:45. Please be fueled up (both you and your bike) and ready to ride!

The ride ride will take us south down Hwy 101 through the largest of the Giant Redwood trees, along the famous . The run is about 300 miles round trip. On the return ride, we will stop for lunch in Fortuna at the Eel River Brewing Company....who are uniquely suited to accommodate our entire group.

Dinner- There are no special plans for dinner this evening and everyone is free to roam around town and dine at a place and in the company of their own choosing.

Wednesday Aug 24-

Seven Devil's Rec Area
- Ride Leaders - Sin City Stan and Blowndodge

This ride will take us straight north on Hwy 101 along the southern Oregon Coast to Seven Devils Recreation Area, just south of Coos Bay. There we will find a bike-friendly parking area on the beach and can enjoy the ocean up close! Round trip is 238 miles. On the return, we will park near the marina in Bandon, OR. There are numerous eating establishments within a two-block walk in any direction from there. We'll pick a time for kickstands up and everyone can eat lunch where they choose.

Thursday Aug 25-

Klamath & Trinity River Loop- Ride Leaders - Utah Motorcyclist and Blowndodge

Print Out This Ride Plan

We will probably want to get an early (8:00am) start for this group ride. It is a 275 mile loop (6.5 hour ride time) that will take us deep into the Six Rivers/Klamath National Forests along some twisty roads that follow the Trinity and Klamath Rivers. The two major stops will be in Willow Creek for fuel and stretch, then Happy Camp for fuel and lunch. The route beyond Happy Camp will take us into some pretty remote country with few services through the Siskiyou Mountains before heading back toward Crescent City on the historic Redwoods Highway (199). Our options are limited for lunch in Happy Camp, so the Pizza place and bar next door will probably be it. You might want to pack some snacks and drinks for this one. . .

Banquet Dinner- We have reserved the Banquet Room at the Elk Valley Casino for our final evening together. We are shooting for a 7:30pm start time. The Casino is located 1.8 miles from the Curly Redwood Lodge and has the capacity to host our entire group. The cost for the buffet will be $21.25 per person including 18% gratuity, payable upon entry. Joel (Waterman) has graciously offered to put up the required deposit. Here is a look at the Buffet Menu.

Raffle/Fundraiser- I believe that as a group, we should do something to help the local communities in which we gather and leave them a better place for our having been there. To that end, we will be holding a raffle at the banquet for prizes donated by Kawasaki Motors and other generous Rally sponsors. It would be great if each member could bring a small gift to donate to the cause as well. Place it on the prize table at the Banquet and we will raffle it off with all the other stuff!

As many of you know, Little League Baseball is an organization near and dear to my heart. All proceeds from our raffle will be donated to Del Norte Little League of Crescent City, CA. DNLL President John Nuszkiewicz and Treasurer Mitch Jones will be on hand to accept the proceeds and tell us what kind of things the money will help with. Little League Baseball is an entirely volunteer organization that benefits kids of all ages and our donation will be very much appreciated.

Donate only what you can afford and I thank you all in advance for your generous support!

Raffle Tickets will be sold as follows:

5 tickets for $10 = $2.00 per ticket
10 tickets for $15 = $1.50 per ticket
20 tickets for $20 = $1.00 per ticket
Over 20 tickets = $1.00 per ticket
