blemished clearview shields and louvers
Was checking out the clearview shields for my Vaquero and came across the ad for sale of blemished shields. Just wondering if anyone has purchased a blemished windshield and if the blemish was really evident. They say that you get full warranty. Also wanted to know if anyone with the adjustable louvers had any cracking around the screws. Thanks in advance and happy New Year to everyone.

I bought a blem for my 07 Nomad when I had that and if they hadn't pointed out the blem with an arrow on a piece of tape I don't think I could have found it.
I think Clearview are the best out there. Have them on my Vic KP and my wife's Vic BW. Can't say anything about the adjustable louvers as I never saw the need to have them on the shield.

Thanks to Top Cat and mbarr10 for their input. Do you feel the adjustable louvers are a worthwhile extra as I am like Top Cat I have never had louvers on any windshield. Am I missing something?

The vents have been called Bug Catchers, and I see how that comes about. They reduce the turbulence behind the shield that makes it more comfortable on long rides. It rattles sometimes ( most times) during 0-15mph. So running around town it can get slightly annoying. It is the flapper that rattles and sometimes with a different setting it will stop. Since Ivans v3.0 it reduced the rattle a lot. Or I just drive it better, not sure but it worked well. So that is all I can say good and not perfect, would I do it again? YES Some will say no and I can see why. I think if you get a really tall shield it would be beneficial with a short shield not so much. I hope this helps you make a well informed decision.

Thanks to Snake Ranch and mbarr10 for the input. Never thought about slow moving traffic on hot days and I had been told that they do allow bugs to hit the rider as they pass through. I have a bagger shield that is 12 inches with the extension out so I was looking at the small or medium shield. Lots to think about. Year end clearance is coming soon. Will have to make up my mind by then. Thanks

I've bought one for a different bike in the past that they contacted me due to a blem. I said to ship it anyway and took the $25 refund or whatever. When I got it, I couldn't even see the blem. They had an arrow pointing to it. I think the first good bug that hit it created a bigger one.

I have a Clearview shield on my V Star. They contacted me and told me it had got a blemish while in production and did I want it at a reduced price.
I said I was in no hurry and could wait for one that was perfect, which is what I did. |

Thanks to ErikB and Redjay. Nice to know that they give you an option to accept or not accept blemishes instead of just shipping it . Seems from others I have talked to that the service seems to be pretty good and most blemishes are hard to find. Nice to have options,

One last thought, you only get 2 choices of tint for a Vaquero. Clear and Light smoke, Light smoke by itself looks clear. If you put it side by side with a clear you can see the difference. I swore mine was clear and sent it back, after they showed me a side by side pic of my shield I realized I was Dumb. But that stupidity cost me shipping it back to them and then shipping back to me. Now I am Known to be the one that paid the most for a Vaquero shield. Not a title I wanted to Own. The Nightmares still persist.
On the plus side, I do Like My shield GET THE RECURVE on your shield. And Measure twice because they cut once and will charge shipping Twice

Hey mbarr10. Thought the recurve came stock? Nice to know about the colour differences as well.

The recurve used to come stock but they got greedy and now charge extra for it.

Ok, One more last tidbit. Before you install it place foam tape or weather stripping over the holes on the fairing. (ran mine all along the fairing. to seal from water) Low enough not to be seen once installed but over the bolt holes then poke through them. The Black bottom on the shield is vinyl and will peal at the contact points where it rubs on the fairing. Mostly the outer edge and center I am not alone on this one, see other reviews on this forum.

I put foam tape on mine as well, no vinyl black bottom on my Wind Vest, but it stopped it from squeaking while it was doing that rubbing you speak of.
