* Roads under constuction in Vermont *

If you are planning a trip into Vt. or driving thru to another destination, you need to check for updates at this site.

They closed the link I had posted at the top.
They have opened quite a few roads, some are still gravel. They have opened the East - West road called Rte. 4, don't know the condition of the surface.
Caution there are still some that are closed because of bridges being out. There are long detours in some areas.:-(
But the good news is; the Vermont agency of Tourism says to still come to Vermont, we need the Tourism Dollars. I'm thinking everyone should stay home and mail the money this year. We'll make next year a memorable trip for you.

Well with a little over 500 miles of roads damaged or destroyed, they have managed to repair/rebuild all but 11 miles. Parts of rte. 12 and rte. 107 are still being rebuilt. And they are still closed in those sections. All major bridges that were damaged or lost all together have an alternative means to get thru. With thanks to the Guardsmen from Maine and Minnesota, they were a big help. We are almost back to normal for travel thru the state. YAHOO!

YAHOOOOO!
They opened the last mile of 500 miles of closed roads that were damaged when
T.S. Irene hit Vt. 4 months ago. **Rte. 107 is finally open...**
There was 11 miles of rte. 107 damaged and they originally estimated that it
would take 2 years to repair.
They had 46 crews working 24 hours a day for 4 months. The road is open but
they they still have some work to do to finish it. This is a major route from east
to west here in central Vt. and having it closed has been a real pain. This is the
best present of the year... YAHOOOOO!

I wished they worked that quickly in Ontario. Our main east - west highway feels like your riding on a horse the last few years.

They do such a lousy job of road work around here, by the time they finish at one end, it's time to go back to the other end and start again.

That's usually the way it is around here as well. But they decided they needed to get the state connected again, and I'm glad it is.
