Rattle during hard throttle

Being new to a 1600 Nomad, I'm hearing a "rattle/buzzing" when I hard throttle the bike but don't really notice when I slow roll the throttle. Any thoughts or suggestions? Thanks!

It is probably what we cal pinging.
Try downshifing to a lower gear and hard throttle.

That won't solve a pre-detonation issue. Dumping more gas into the cylinders might help cool the charge but it won't resolve the underlying issue of too low fuel octane. People are under the impression adding a fuel injection module will somehow fix pinging but it won't. Only way to fix the problem is going to high octane fuel, reducing compression, or retarding the timing. Adding more fuel via a programmer is only a bandaid fix that doesn't directly resolve the issue. The bike requires premium fuel....period. There is no reason to run lower octane fuel, and in fact, it will hinder performance and cooling.

OP....is it a rattle or is it more of a metallic sounding "ring" sounds that sounds more like someone hitting the engine with a ballpeen hammer? I would look at the headlight housing for rattles. The trim ring and housing are famous rattle makers. I sprayed the inside of mine with a sound absorbing material which got rid of any rattles.

I beg to differ....Changing to a Dobeck TFI solved my pinging problem.
I have an 02 Nomad. I tried everything. Adjusting my TPS, it did help. Tried Power commander, sucks. I installed the Dobeck, at first the pinging reduced. The more I ran it the better it got. The real problem is the 1500/1600 don't need premium because the compression ratio is not high enough. It takes some time running the regular (97) to get the carbon build up out of the cylinder heads. I can't even get mine to ping now no matter how I lug it down and turn the throttle on.
The secret, in my opinion, is the TFI lets me adjust the fuel mixture richer which runs cooler. Regular burns cleaner because it burns faster. Once the carbon has burnt off, no more pinging. My experience proves this works. Try it you'll like it.
Been running regular for 30,000 miles.

If you're running premium already and it's pinging get a Victory and start running regular!

We're talking rattles here, and we get rumbling from the peanut gallery.

It seems to happen at high RPM's in 1st, 2nd, 3rd etc..but if I slow roll the throttle I do not notice it as much. If not "pinging" is there anything on the front end that may exhibit similar symptoms?? I have V&H duals and am getting ready to do air intake mod and fuel processor as well.

It could possibly be loose wiring in the headlight bucket. That sometimes rattles at certain rpms or could even be keys rattling on the keychain.

I know it's not the keys because that was an issue but that one I located quickly. It wouldn't be the solenoid valves would it??
