It depends what kind of kit you decide to put on the right side.
Chuckster on this forum sells a kit that uses the stock cover on the right side.
With this kit you can leave the left side cover as it is. Remove the filter on the left side as it no longer serves a purpose.

If you want to use another kit you can remove the left side air filter assembly completely. Some people mount an emblem or an aftermarket horn there.
I think Chuckster makes a plate with an emblem that you can bolt on the left side.

I run the Kuryakyn Alley Cat on the right hand side and have removed the left side completely, so the engine is completely visible on that side. It's a personal choice, but I think it looks awesome! Don't have any decent pics, but if you follow this link you'll see a Vaq with an empty left side.

Thunder Mfg. makes a nice piece to fit the left side of the engine when the air filter is moved to the right. These trim pieces come in chrome or black and by the way I do not work for Thunder.

I like the look of both naked and thunder plate just kind of wanted other opinions thanks all also have to install a denali air horn which might hide behind the thunder plate.

You can leave the dogbowl on and put a bad boy airhorn behind it.

I thought of that too but the only reason I wont is because I would have to cut off a portion of the housing that tunneled the air to the other side.
and in case I ever wanted to go back to the original set up I would have to find another filter housing (back)
just me being somewhat anal!
Oh sorry a hose now takes up space there for the new thunder a/ cleaner

Awesome looking Vaq. What is your Bad Boy horn mounted to? I have the same horn on my 1500 classic. The one that came with my Vaq is a piece of chitt.

The horn is mounted on a homemade bracket that is attached to the upper engine guard mounting spot and wired directly to the bike's stock horn wire with absolutely no problems in the two years its been on the bike.

Not much room in the original location for a larger horn . . . you risk hitting fender etc . . .

+1 with what he said. I read in this forum and the other about people thatbhit their fender with the WoLo in the stock location. Mostly on a hard bump , but you never no. I am waiting for a solution. Honestly, the horn button is in such a chitty location, that by the time I find it with my thumb and press, the A-Hole that cut me off or almost hit me is already down the road..
