Does this irritate you?

I have a non-riding friend that is always tells me (and my wife) about any motorcycle accidents they hear about.

I asked why we don't hear from them about car accidents too? Afterall, I do drive my car more often than my bike.

I finally had enough of it today and told my friend to quit being an alarmist and listed all the things I regularly practice to improve my safety factor. I also told my friend it is irritating to hear it from non riders as they just don't get it.

Do you know people like this? Do you find it irritating?

Oh yes, they are all over the place and just as irritating. Most of the time I just consider the source.

None of my friends say anything about the negatives of Motorcycle riding.
If they did I would do as you did. It would irritate the hell out of me.
For you wise guys who are going to say you didn't think I would have any friends, here is the post I made in another thread when questioned.

Really Scott ?
I have 5 close friends. Two of them ride Harleys and one rides a BMW.
The other two just visit me or hang out around my place. They are pretty cool guys.
I just don't understand why other people can't see them

I tell anyone that says motorcycle riding is dangerous, that when my time is up and God decides to bring me home it wont matter if im on a bike or in a car my time is up. So I'm going to enjoy my time as much as possible on a bike.

I usually say: "Apparently someone did something wrong".

That usually switches-up the conversation with "them" asking what I mean.

From there I simply state that apparently the motorcyclist (and/or cager, if it involved one) did something wrong... point blank.

Usually "they" get the picture and shut-up... but if they don't... well... I have more to say to them.

Hardly ever have anyone say anything about it. They know it wouldn't do any good, I'm still going to ride.

I am sure it is your friends way of expressing his concern and care for you. Remember those that dont ride just dont get it. I would thank him for his info and continue to keep on riding!

Yeah, there are certain people who like to tell me about every motorcycle accident they have ever seen or heard of. I counter by telling them about some gruesome car wreck I saw, even if I make the details up.

I tell them, "People have died just going for a walk, does that mean you are going to stop walking?"
